Excellent for the money

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 11, 2001
I got them, tried them and feel very satisfied for the choise. There is nothing in the market that could be compared with this 5.1, DDigital, DTS set at this price. If you want to fill a stadium with sound, then find something else. If you want to fill your room (and house) and don't want to pay a fortune get them with no hesitation.

Yamaha TSS-1 - A Great Starter System

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 1, 2002
Great value for a full Dolby Digital speaker system. With this little system hooked up to my PC movies have satisfying impact and clarity. Games roar, putting you right in the heart of the action, while in 2-channel mode audio reproduction shames many 2-speaker specific systems.

It is worth the money? When compared with other Dolby Digital offerings absolutely yes. Creative Labs latest digital system costs around 40% more and although it packs more power, and so can fill a larger room, it can't hope to match the Yamaha system for value.

A friend also bought this system for use with DVD, XBox and PS2. He loves the sound quality like me. His 4m x 3m living room is the largest I'd suggest for these speakers. A proper hi-fi system offers more sound but also more cost and size.

These speakers provide all the excitement and atmosphere needed for gaming of any kind. They also provide a great first step into the world of digital surround sound for small living rooms or kids bedrooms without breaking the bank.

Brilliant

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 27, 2002
This is the best Dolby Digital DTS surround sound system you can buy, to compliment your PS2/DVD player. It plugs straigt in via the in the box optical cable, giving you instant digital sound.
There is plenty of bass from the compact sub-woofer, and great sound from the five satalite speakers. Over all its brilliant.

Amazing for the money

(5 out of 5) by S. Taylor on Mar 5, 2002 (UK)
These speakers sound brilliant, look great and are really cheap! DVD is cool, but to get the best out of it you need the surround sound and with these speakers you can hear things flying behind you and around you. Really clear sound - works with my PS2 as well. I love them.

A Good Budget Alternative

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 23, 2001
While nowhere near as powerful as alternative systems like the Videologic Digitheatre DTS, this Yamaha system is significantly cheaper, and gives superior sound quality to the majority of other sound systems you could get for this price. If you are on a tight budget or only have a small room, this is probably for you.
