If you already have a hifi that records onto MD then this is the perfect partner. The battery life, and perfect sound quality that you would expect from Sony are here and the headphones provided are much better than some of the more expensive sets out there. If you just want a player to PLAY on then you can't go wrong. No gimmicks, it just plays the MDs with amazing sound quality. I've had mine for 10 months now and don't regret going for the bog-standard model...

now before you all start havin' a go telling me that this is a low cost player just don't bother. This is my second MD player and it is really terrible! it won't play half of my minidiscs (that all play fine on my other player and my mates players), despite beiing really looked after it's all scratched and worst of all sony don't want to know about it!!
In fact the only saving grace of theis player is that fact that the battery does last FOREVER.
If you want a minidisc player save a bit more cash nd buy a better one and if you do have trouble with it good luck trying to get sony to acknowledge your existence let alone DO something about the problem!

I used to have a MD player (JVC XM-PX5SL) which i got from Hong Kong.It is the world's smallest player. But it was getting a bit scratched so I got the new Sony MZ-E300 MiniDisc Walkman.It is kinda on the bulky side with battery sticking out,Also the LCD screen doesn't display the track title,which is wierd coz MD gives u the chance to name the track,so why not have that on it? But the overall sound is Great...even better than my old one.

Great sound and excellent battery consumption ( or lack of ) makes this a solid buy for anyone looking for a play only minidisc. A remote would have been nice but for 100 squids its still an excellent buy.
