Excellent Value for money

(5 out of 5) by Patstuff on Jun 27, 2001 (W Mids, UK)
A great little player that is easily as good as, if not better than my Pioneer 525. Picture quality is excellent, plus the unit has several facilities unknown on basic players, like image zoom, screensaver, picture and sound adjustments.

The player must also be one of the cheapest on the market to include component output (great for newer Toshiba TV's & certain projectors) in addition to the normal SCART (RGB, composite & S-Video). Essentially it is the same as the SD210E - it's big brother, except for optical out, the ability to play CDV, MP3, CDR and CD-RW. The remote although a bit plasticky is nicely designed and covers every function available on the machine. The player has a colour set-up menu and a neat on screen display that allows a second way of accessing every function using the cursor keys - very neat.

All in all a great little machine and one I can heartily recommend.

Good Player for the money

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 11, 2001
This is a good little player. No real frills, but it does the basics well. The picture quality is good on all Toshiba models - and this is no exception. Does a great job of audio too - makes a decent CD player replacement. Easy to set up. easy to use. Decent remote.
As the review says - there is only a single SCART socket. Other than this it is hard to fault.

Excellent value for money...

(4 out of 5) by Liam on Jun 19, 2001 (Belfast, Ireland)
Outstanding picture quality and sound - at this price there is nothing to rival it. This is the second player that I have owned (the first being the Wharfedale DVD 750) and despite being a similar price they have nothing else in common - the Toshiba is far superior in every way.

Very functional and easy to use, the only disappointment being the lack of CD-R playback and no known multi-region hack (yet!). Still highly recommended though.

Only one weakness in an otherwise excellent machine

(5 out of 5) by G. Yam on Nov 19, 2001
Great picture, sound, functionality and value.

The only weakness is that the servos run rather loud - and you can hear the disc turning at all times, and especially when switching - but this machine is a bargain in every respect

Why change something that isnt broken?

Although being almost identical to the SD-100 it replaces, this is a superb little player. The SD-100 was a brilliant machine and this continues the trend of fantastic dvd players from Toshiba. It has unheard of features for a budget player, allthough the back looks quite sparse. However, for the price the Toshiba is a must and is easly worth at least £300. A great buy
