Fujifilm FinePix 6800Zoom is one of the best cameras around!

(5 out of 5) by Mr A J Swanson on Dec 3, 2001 (Sevenoaks, United Kingdom)
With the market place flooded with a multitude of digital cameras, all offering the extra feature, buying a digital camera could not be more confusing. All the buzz words, pixels and battery life led me on a 5 weeks pilgrimage to find a value for money camera which is a cut above the rest. Enter the Fujifilm 6800Zoom! After 6 months of using this camera, I can only describe it as a marvel of engineering and technology. The camera is packed (and I mean packed) with features. Spot metering, white balance adjustment, audio clip with shot taken, video (160s in one shoot), scene selection are some of the wonderful features. The operation of the camera is a breeze with the well thought out pictorial menu driven software. The camera cradle with the USB interface really makes this camera a cut above the rest. With the full metal casing, the look and feel of the camera gives the user a special treasured feeling. All 5 starts to Fuji!

Style And Functionability

(5 out of 5) by l33chy@hotmail.com on Jun 3, 2001 (London)
As soon as you pick this camera up you know you are holding a truely exceptional camera. The design (by F.A Porsche) makes you just want to stare at the camera, but it is whats inside that is even more impressive. In simple terms, it allows you to take extremly sharp images that are very detailed. It also has a great 3x optical 4.4x digital zoom so you can zoom in for the best picture every time. The genius of this camera doesnt stop there though. Fuji have thought of everything. When you want to put your pictures onto your pc so you can print them of simply store them, you dont need to search for the wire that connects your camera to the pc because the camera is supplied with a craddle that it sits in. This cradle is conncted to your pc and to transfer your pictures, you just sit the camera in the craddle and use the software provided with the camera to put your pictures onto your pc. Very simple, but a fantastic extra feature. Overall, the camera is very easy to use and provides excellent results. I can't recommend it enough.

Good Camera

(4 out of 5) by Prunesquallor on Jun 19, 2001 (UK)
If you are working just off the absolute pro edge, then this is it. It straightforward to use, allows rapid customisation for your preferences (ie do you usually shoot at ISO 100, 200 or 400?), and the automatic mode is pretty smart.

The PC link is first-rate via USB (it just looks like another drive once you've loaded the drivers), and it can be adapted to be a screencam.

The pictures are sharp and clear, especially if you use the higher-quality modes, and its light tolerance is good. It has a separate viewfinder which shows the zoom, along with the standard LCD display.

I'm still learning my way about. the only thing I've spotted so far is a slight tendency to barrel distortion on macro; this may be due to me so don't take it as gospel.

Generally the nicest digital camera I've had yet.

Fuji masterpiece!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 3, 2001
I've only just taken delivery of my Fuji Finepix 6800 and am still busy learning the ropes...but what an amazing piece of kit! The only two hitches I've had so far is (a)you need minimum Windows 98 to run the software (I have 95!)..but I'll get round this one...and (b) a 16MB smartmedia card isn't really big enough. I shall be going for a 64MB card as soon as possible! I have always hated the idea of camcorders and so a quality, digital stills camera with 'moviemode'was what I was looking for. The reproduction in a little 'jerky' but you get good sound and picture and avoid becoming a bore with hours of home movies and about 30 seconds worth watching! It's a stunning piece of kit and worth every penny...and I haven't even touched on its capabilities yet.

The truth about Fuji FinePix 6800

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 17, 2002
Having promised myself a digital camera and having searched all the available options I decided to go for the fuji FinePis 6800, this was in August 2001.It is now March 2002 and have taken over 1000 pictures, I am pleased to say I made the right decision.
Like everyone when the camera first arrived I could not wait to start taking pictures and certainly not sit and wade through the instruction book, the camera immediately took great pictures and over the next month having read the instruction book I found out all the functions the camera can do.You will be amazed.eg Choice of picture quality (Pixels,Macro,Excellent pictures with very low light,Ease of use,Timer for taking pictures with you in them,Excellent review screen both of proposed photo and of photo's already taken,Long life rechargeable battery, Video with excellant picture and sound quality,Also able to record details of the picture just taken what you have just taken. These are but a few of the functions and I must admit every time I look through the instruction book I still find more functions that this camera will do.
Truly a great camera as you would expect from Fuji.
