I bought this camera 12 months ago. Subsequently I have used it for all my photos and have been extremely pleased with it. It seems to be at its best outdoors, photos taken in the Middle East in v. bright sun have had no problems at all. I even used it at the birth of my son and the results are great. The only slight whinge is the memory, but I bought a 64MB Compact Flash card so no longer a problem.
I certainly recommend this as a cheap and very cheerful solution.

Fantastic little camera, bargain price.
I bought this camera from Amazon back around June of last year.
It has taken the best part of a year before I have seen another 1.2MP camera for under £100. I fully agree with your other viewer who said that outdoor sunshine shots are fantastic. I've taken it on three holidays (July 01 - Venice; Oct 01 - Sardinia; and Mar 02 - Salzburg)and it was perfect. Pocket sized, simple to use, simple to buy batteries for (AA sized), and simple to download once you return. I've used Duracell Ultra M2 batteries, which were OK for one week holidays.
Have also used it for Web meetings with friends who spent 8 months in New Zealand.
The wife (bless her!) even dropped it whilst we were standing at a hotel reception, onto a marble floor, with no damage.
To sum up, a cracking little point and shoot digital camera, perfect for holidays.

Review Update - reliability problems
I originally reviewed this camera on 15th June 2001.
While all that I previously said was true (ie its small, cheap and produces good results - especially outside) I've had two malfunction in 8 months - camera had to be relaced on both occasions.
I may have been unlucky, I have to say Amazon were good at replacing the faulty goods. After the second camera malfunctioned I changed to a Canon A20 which is a much better camera (although 3 times the price).

just the job
Just the job - easy on batteries - adequate resolution - fits in your pocket - auto flash works a treat (watch for close up bleaching)and with 64Mb compact flash would keep David Bailey happily snapping away till he got the right shot - the dogs whatnots (at the price paid!!).

Now you have no excuse
I am so sick I bought this great little camera as a gift for an elderly relative, she wanted a simple camera for her new computer. I paid over 20% more in the high street, why didn't I look here first. By the way she loves it it is so easy to use, love her.
