Now you have no excuse

I am so sick I bought this great little camera as a gift for an elderly relative, she wanted a simple camera for her new computer. I paid over 20% more in the high street, why didn't I look here first. By the way she loves it it is so easy to use, love her.

Excellent Introduction To Digital Photography

(4 out of 5) by John Simpkins on Sep 4, 2001 (Yorkshire, England)
Having toyed with the idea of buying a Digital Camera for a while, I took the plunge following an Email offer from Amazon.

I found the installation of the software to be straightforward and fairly quick. The connection of the camera itself was also easy using the USB port. After taking a few trial photos, I downloaded them onto the PC (again no problems) and was really impressed with the quality. In fact, the whole process from installation through to viewing my photos on the PC took less than an hour.

As an introduction to digital cameras, I have found the Agfa CL20 to be ideal and I would recommend it.

GREAT!

This camera is a must for anyone who doesnt have £500 to spend on a Canon Ixus 300.The AGFA CL20 is of the highest build quality, so dont be put off by the pictures. The lens and subsequent picture quality can also not be faulted. The software was a breeze to set up and essentially, to take photos, just point and click. The camera only has 5 buttons in total,1 to set the flash/self-timer,1 for the resolution,1 for deletion of pictures,1 to actually take the photo and another to send the photos to AGFA to have the processed. To download the pictures,it is simply a matter of plugging in the USB cable and starting up the computer. The webcam feature is also very good. This camera has few flaws, mainly the fact that it has no zoom, not even digital(but hey, whaddya expect for.. the price),has no lens cap,but never mind, and only has 1mb internal memory. This can however, be rectified by the addition of compact flash memory,i purchased 128MB for around £70,finding that i could take over 700 photos at high resolutionon that one CF card,so,no problems there.BASICALLY-BUY THIS CAMERA unless you have £400-£500 to spend buying a CANON digital IXUS 300 (the mother of all practical digicams!)

A good specification

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 25, 2001
At last a camera which has a good resolution (1.3megapixel) at a good price. The lack of decent LCD display is not a problem since I do not use such screens on other digicams as it wastes precious battery power. This camera is very economical with batteries. The photos are sharp although there is a slightly goldfish-bowl effect on objects close up.

Review Update - reliability problems

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 11, 2002
I originally reviewed this camera on 15th June 2001.

While all that I previously said was true (ie its small, cheap and produces good results - especially outside) I've had two malfunction in 8 months - camera had to be relaced on both occasions.

I may have been unlucky, I have to say Amazon were good at replacing the faulty goods. After the second camera malfunctioned I changed to a Canon A20 which is a much better camera (although 3 times the price).
