Classy but shody

I bought this one a couple of years ago. It worked great in terms of playing and no skipping. I dropped it once, not even very hard and it never played again. I bought a Panasonic instead and it still works great even after having dropped it a few times.

just what i was looking for, ive used rio befor with rio500 mp3 that ive had over 2 years and is still working fine ive had no complaints. i got alot more music on my computer now was thinking of getting one of the big 10gig mp3 players or sonys new net md mini disc player but im glad ive got this. things i would say update the firmware when u get it, ear phones our really good i think, the ones i got with rio500 were nothing special. the control is small but is all that is needed lets me just easily change songs etc.

sum it up this is great product ive got 191 songs on one disk its brilliant

About time too...

I got one of these little beauties on import about a year ago (so much for exciting new technology), and at a lower price, even with shipping and commission. Having said that, the unit is rock solid and works a treat. The firmware is well written and there are lots of options to play with. My only gripe is that the physical design is that of a standard CD player, and compromises are made to accommodate the MP3 features with the existing buttons. The second generation, redesigned model is already out!

Great product!

I was given the RioVolt as a gift because I have a bunch of downloaded and CD audio on CD-Rs. This was the greatest gift. I have CDs with 20 albums encoded with Windows Media Player. I love not having to switch CDs for a week or so. Great battery life too. I love how the CD stops spinning after the first few seconds of a song so you know it's not going to skip.

What's with the dancing people on the LCD though?

not a very good unit

this unit works and plays mp3, but here are the problems

1. the anti skip is very bad. you can not even walk with this unit!

2. It only reads one directory down. so if you have songs 2 directories down from the main you can not choose them. though the unit will play them in order. you just can't go to them manually.
