The 4x4 arrangement is a great idea as it provides a much better strength to the case as opposed to some of the 2x2 systems that are available. For its price the case is absolutely worth it, as it provides the protection and organisation that is required of it.
The only problems though are that you cannot get extra pockets for it as there is no way to add or remove the ones included and also when it isn't full the pages tend to get caught in the material at the edges, aside from those minor problems the case is a very worthy purchase.
Tough CD Case
My casy has taken a good battering over the months and the tough material doesn't even seem to be fraying in the slightest. However, it is hard to wipe stains and marks off the material - but who cares?
In each sleeve there is just about enough room for a CD and a booklet to go with it - although it is a slight squeeze.
The main gripe that I have is that when opening and closing the zip, the edges of the CDs often overlap the zip and therefore I have to kind of stuff everything in.
All in all, a tough CD wallet that's great for taking CDs about and taking a bit of rough treatment.
Very Good - please read for a thorough review
More specifically, these cases are also very well built – discs are definitely safer in one of these rather than in their jewel cases. Dropping the case (within practical reason) will never damage the discs. The double sided sleeves allow you to look at 8 (2 x 4) discs at once and the sleeves sit open at pages nicely when you put it down – useful in a hurry. The material is also high quality so not only do they feel and look sleek, they can withstand a lot of wear and tear. The carry handle is practical as well as comfortable and the zip is of a high standard.
I have a number of these products – one of these for computer discs and one for music CD’s, though I have a smaller cases (2x2) for my DVD’s and to use in the car or take on holiday.
However, this product is NOT PERFECT it is simply BETTER THAN ANY EXISTING PRODUCTS. You can’t change sleeves (pages) within the case which makes it impossible to organize your discs, for example, alphabetically. Thus it is impossible to add or remove sleeves. Also, you can't store anything other than the discs themselves - such as CD booklets with track listings. However, this product is an absolute essential purchase for anyone with more than a few CD’s.
WORDS OF ADVICE – please don’t go for a 4x4 CD wallet unless you need to transport lots of discs. If you need one for the car or to use on holiday, consider a 2x2 or 2x1 case from the same manufacturer – scaled down versions of this product with the same benefits.
A neat & practical solution to my storage problem
Bought this and problem's solved. All discs held neatly, safely & tidily. It's a smart case but mine will spend it's life in a cupboard taking up minimal shelf space.
The innards consist of 16 double sided pages, each side holding 4 discs. Each page is made from a soft black coarse weave fabric. The discs are held in place in clear plastic pockets. 16pages x 4 discs x 2 sides means that there's 128 pockets in the folder plus, as has been said elsewhere there's a detacable wallet affair in the front of the folder that holds 16 discs. The packaging suggests that this is intended for discs currently being watched but I'm using it to hold discs I haven't filled yet.
There's a band of clear plastic that goes around the inner pages to stop them flopping about. This is a good idea but to me it seems flimsy which is why I've withheld one star.
Having said that I am very pleased with this product & will be buying another
Excellent product!
In addition to the 128 CD sleeves in the book (16 double-sided pages, 4 CDs per side), there are an additional 16 pockets at the front to give a total of 144. This front section also unclips and can be taken out of the main organiser to fold into a separate 16-CD pack, ideal for the car, or where you don't need to take your full collection.
I've filled two of these, have a 32 capacity one for my car and have already ordered a further two 128s, though they are also available in a 256 capacity version. These organisers have an attractive black nylon outer, but other versions are available with a classier, if slightly more expensive, Koskin finish (my car organiser is this finish) probably more suited to a living room.
