Lets the iPaq down!!

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 23, 2001
Too bulky to carry on the person, only holds the iPaq (not even a spare stylus), too pricey and serves only to look pretty in the boardroom. A belt clip would have been its saving grace. Mine has been placed into the depths of the junkroom.
Anybody know of a usable case???

Does the opposite of the intention!

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 1, 2001
I bought this case for my iPAQ thinking that it would give me protection from the bumps and scratches it has to put up with and I was amazed that after only five days the stitching had come loose inside the case and scratched the iPAQ badly! The velcro fastening is also badly made and the only saving grace (although not a great one) is that the leather is wonderfully supple and smells brilliant. However, if you want protection, stick with the stock slip case!

Compaq ipaq Leather Jacket

(3 out of 5) by Paul Murphy on Jul 30, 2001 (Dublin, Ireland)
this jacket is fine for carrying around, it makes the machine look good, but when it comes to sychronising your machine with a pc you have to remove the jacket. I find it difficult to use the dictaphone with this jacket on as well, anybody got any suggestions??

Good looks, bad ergonomics

(2 out of 5) by Gianfranco (gfbalduc@tin.it) on Dec 16, 2001 (Milan, Italy)
The leather look and feel is great, and that's all that could be said in favour of this product.

It's expensive, not particularly well-done, and is not even protecting very much its content.

Also the agenda-book appearance, although looking great at a board meeting, is impractical if you want to write while holding your PDA in your left hand. For that, a softer case, with the cover hinged on the top instead of the side, if far more practical.

Too small, too expensive - but smells nice

(1 out of 5) by Mr. M. Richards on Jun 29, 2001 (UK)
The iPAQ ships with a slim leatherette case which gives some protection to the machine. This does more of the same, but at considerable expense.

Amazingly, Compaq appear to have ignored the design of their own machine when they came up with this case.

The iPAQ is expanded through a series of slip-on jackets which add a small amount of width and depth to the machine. This case cannot hold an iPAQ if it is wearing any jacket so you have to carry the jackets separately, remove the machine from the leather jacket, put on the expansion...

It's saving grace is that the leather does smell nice.

If you have any expansion jackets you're better off getting one of the flexible neoprene jackets for the iPAQ.
