Way Overpriced

(2 out of 5) by J. Guadagnoli on Aug 27, 2009
I originally had a WRT54GTX Router and a Wireless Network Card to gain the full performance of the SRX400 technology. I was very please with my Linksys product and looked forward to buying this product and the WRT610N along with it.

Sad to say I experienced massive lag spikes about every 60-90 seconds. If you do some research on the topic you'll find plenty of tickets on the Linksys forums about this problem they have YET to fix, including a 13 page thread with users posting about the problem with various fixes. Unfortunately none of them worked for me.

After spending 4 hours with Linksys support they finally told me to return the product for a new one.

This product didn't even give me full signal strength when the router was right next to the computer.

I switched to a D-Link DIR-855 Xtreme N Duo Dual Band Draft 802.11n Media Router
And
D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop Adapter
and everything has worked perfectly from the start. Sorry Linksys, but you lost this one.

Wireless N Apadter card that works with Vista 64 bit

(4 out of 5) by D. Infanger on Jul 24, 2009 (Ithaca, NY)
I purchased this adapter card because my old D-Link card did not have a functional driver for Vista 64 bit (as it turns out, a lot of adapter cards are finicky with 64 bit Vista). I still operate with a G-band router - waiting for wireless 'n' reviews to get better - but I didn't want to get another wireless adapter at that time so I bought an 'n' card now. That said, I can't evaluate how this card functions for 802.11n, just 802.11g.

Pretty well, as it turns out. Setting up drivers was a snap in Vista 64 (probably one of the only times that phrase has been uttered), and I rarely have a dropped connection from my D-Link router. The fact that there are two antennas has zero improvement on my connection strength or ability to find my router. Four stars is because of the price: considering you can get a fully functional adapter for $20, this is a bit pricey and you don't get more for your money. Hell, for $75 it isn't unreasonable to expect this card to actually bring the internet into my basement, so I can have coffee with it and discuss the difficulties of having the World Wide Web as a roommate.

A no Brainer!

(5 out of 5) by TW on Sep 24, 2009 (las vegas)
First of all Yes, It is expensive and I had my doubts.. all of doubting was gone in about 5 minutes! the card installs easy enough { like all cards } and it picked up my new wireless router transmissions before I knew the router was on! the CD has step by step instructions that actually are doing all the set up, you just hit "Next" and Presto! I live in a congested APT with lots of interference, how it picks up the signal is amazing! my iMac is the one with the router and my PC with Vista has the card, and my PC is as fast as ever! plus I didn't realize this has dual bands for even more options..
I cannot stress enough about the ease of set up, it is absolutely Fool Proof, you will also be surprised to see the other close by networks it can pick up, so in conclusion... if you are unsure about getting this item, don't be! it works Great!

Great PC Upgrade

(4 out of 5) by M. Mola on Nov 2, 2009 (New York)
I bought this adapter after I purchased a wireless N router. I had some issues connecting my pc using a wireless g card. After installing it connected and works seamlessly. Would recommend this for people looking to upgrade to wireless N

great im picking up 24 to 49 mbps were on my usb it was 12 to 39mbps both were linksys but the transfer rate for pci is soo much faster that even when im picking up 24 mbps i can still watch a you tube video with out it stopping to buffer i could only do that when i was lucky enough to pick 30 mbps or above with the usb the rouder im using is in a coffee shop owned by the person i rent from tho they have no problem with me using there inter net i cant change the rouder so finding a adapter that increases my speed was the only option, tho the down stairs rouder is not a dual band i plan on getting one for my self
