No Surprises Here!

The JetFlash V30 8 GB Flashdrive is exactly what you would expect - an easy to use plug-and-play USB drive. The drive was reasonably fast and I had no issues using it with my Mac (not that you would expect any). Once I plugged the Flashdrive into my USB port my Mac dislayed the Transcend icon on my desktop within 15 seconds.

The drive comes with a small plastic case for storage. You may want to note that this drive does not have any way to be fastened to a key chain - which while not important to me is a deal killer for some. While I traditionally make it a point not to comment on the packaging and delivery from Amazon - I will make an exception. The Transcend JetFlash came in a small cardboard envelope, which was perfect for delivery. Since the drive was in its plastic case there was little chance that it would be damaged. In truth, I would like to see Amazon shift to this type of packaging for more of their products.

Got this on a Goldbox Deal and could not be more pleased. Very simple plug-and-use....very compact in size and has functioned without any problem. I highly recommend.

Two part review: USB flash drive and amazon frustration-free packaging

(5 out of 5) by Michael A. Duvernois on Aug 4, 2009 (Minneapolis, MN United States)
1. This is a basic 8GB USB 2.0 flash drive. Works with Windows, Macs, and Linux machines. It's small, black, made of plastic and comes with some software utilities or other. These were ignored since we use Macs and Linux boxes. Basic, but seems relatively sturdy.

2. Amazon is advertising some items as having "frustration-free packaging" and this is the first such item that I have seen in the flesh. The idea is to eliminate those clamshell boxes which have to be cut with a sharp knife or scissors (and have razor sharp edges!) and then you end up cutting into the instructions. Also to eliminate the metal ties and plastic bindings. It came instead in a small cardboard envelope, safely protected still by the plastic case of the drive. Simple, hassle free, and probably better for the environment.
