Best DVD RW

(5 out of 5) by Asim Bijarani on Sep 24, 2009 (Pakistan)
I previously had Sony DRU-840A DVD burner installed in my system but it stopped working after one year, now I have bought new Sony (again sony) AD-7240S and I have burned few DVD-R discs, it's working fine, no any noise nor any data write error, VEry easy to install, and It has very fast burning speed. however I usually burn DVD-Rs at 8x.
This is the best DVD burner for this price.
I suggest this to everyone.

Great product

Nothing negative to say; this is a top rated product and preformed exactly as expected. It is an OEM / bare bones model so you need your own cables but that shouldn't be a big deal.

This was very well packaged by amazon with a custom foam insert and plenty of padding.

Maybe an OK drive

(3 out of 5) by Daniel John Leduc on Sep 1, 2009 (Pineville, LA, USA)
I wanted to add dual layer capability to my PC and since my hard disk is SATA I thought that I should use a SATA DVD and this is the first reasonably-priced one that I found. When I installed it it did not work at first and made terrible noises. I finally noticed that the case was bent and I popped it out. It then started to work like ti should. However, it still occasionally makes loud noises, but it does seem to write and read DVD's. I haven't complained to the company so I can't say if they would be responsive or not.

What is America coming too???

(3 out of 5) by Everett W. Mack on Oct 9, 2009 (Tucson, AZ)
Showed up without cables, hardware, or directions of any kind. I'm finding this to be a more and more common occurance these days also. Other than that it is easy to use and no software required.
