The MiniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter, needed for HDMI connection of a new MacBook Pro to a monitor and not available from Apple, works very well. Display quality on my external monitor is great. Of course, sound has to be transferred via an independent cable but this is a limitation of the MiniDisplayPort itself.
