Amazing Buy

I normally build my own PC's, but was too lazy to go through the hassle of finding the parts and putting it all together myself. I wanted something small and compact to take to LAN parties and such, but still be a powerhouse. AND I didn't want to break the bank. I thought I was asking for way too much to get a good price, but then I stumbled across the A-1.
Its performing amazingly well. The 5.1 is great, which is good news because I expected it to sound cheesy or lame, but no, it does a really good job. Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2 run flawlessly (sorry gamers, those are the only two games I got installed at the moment).
I love this site, and its reviews tend to be spot on. Has a good break down of the specs and tests and such.

Wonderful/NOT: read

This lap top is nice. I wanted for video media. It is BIG. I like the metal body. The volume 'level' on left is a bit touchy.Screen great.Yep, I need it louder so will look for head set w/ larger volume control. I haven't had a chance to do a lot as I got white/grey screen upon photo editing.It's certainly a desk top replacement.

Asus techs determined DOA. BUT, they will ship me a brand new one asap. ASUS is the best I've known. They DO stand by everything. They always pick up the phone, all day/night. There is only a few minutes wait time, they are patient, helpful and STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS LIKE THEY SAY. This is worth everything to me. I've never known a company with this kind of red carpet service. I'll continue to buy Asus products because of their deep dedication to please their customers. I TRUST their products and their company. (no sending me all over the world like Hewlett Packard does) Asus you are the best!! THANK YOU ASUS.

Monday June 15, 2009: I have worked to re package this up to ship to ASUS. I called ASUS customer care and she told me ASUS does NOT have any new ones at all, and mine would NOT be replaced, but 'repaired'. I would have to carry the LARGE box/heavy, to a Fed X shipping station. OMG..ASUS customer care lady NOT helpful, nor cared if I did not have a new one or ASUS at all. She said: 'Well, don't know could be months so doesn't Amazon have a return policy? Ship it back to them and get refund'. (eeek) I am on my old xp/printed out Amazon's labels for return/and I've had it with BOTH COMPANIES. NO STARS FOR EITHER ASUS OR AMAZON. I am not happy about this entire nightmare+costs+lies. (I always record calls now from companies so I have proof also and documentation of all parties). Can't change star ratings above. MAKE SURE U TEST 'EVERYTHING' ON THIS BEFORE WRITING A REVIEW ON IT. Do NOT recommend for ladies,imo. geez, expensive lesson for me once again. I'm too old for this...not even a 'we're sorry'.

Great Gaming Notebook
(5 out of 5) by J. Burton on May 17, 2009 (Chicago, IL)Amazon delivered this laptop as advertised. It's really is a great machine. I use it specifically for gaming and it delivers. Call of Duty World at War worked flawlessly. Other games such as Grid, Crysis and others just work. No frame rate issues, no trouble keeping up.
Aesthetically, it looks really nice and doesn't have stupid designs like other gaming rigs. The glossy screen is great with color really popping. I know many people don't like glossy, but I do. The sound is terrific and I like the keyboard with the flatter keys much better than traditional keyboards.
A nice added touch is the inclusion of a backpack. Given the size of this monster, you're not going to find to many bags to accommodate this notebook. The backpack does the trick.
Aesthetically, it looks really nice and doesn't have stupid designs like other gaming rigs. The glossy screen is great with color really popping. I know many people don't like glossy, but I do.
