i've owned a lot of hard drive enclosures and this is definitely the best! all the screws thread in well and is solid, and the PCB is robust. MADE IN THE US of A!

My laptop computer took an extended siesta this past summer, turning off just fine and then waking up the next morning with no clue where it was and what it should do. Couldn't load windows, files were jumbled and lost and damaged. NOTE: IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, DON'T ADD OR DELETE SOFTWARE FROM THE DRIVE!!!!!! In order to recover the lost/damaged files, you have to basically turn the drive into a flash drive, attach it to another computer (in my case, my desktop) via USB or other connection, and then use recovery software downloaded onto the GOOD COMPUTER, to scan and (hopefully) retrieve files on the damaged drive. SOOO, I needed a way to connect my drive to my desktop. There are other, much more expensive ways to do it, but this worked GREAT. Maybe 10 minutes to research how to remove my drive from my desktop, find my mini screwdriver (a necessity), and do the deed. Connected with an included mini-usb to usb, lickety-split.

As to the case itself, I was bummed to be done with it and put it away, since it's so compact and the color is so attractive. I don't want to wish for another crash, but I wish I had some other use for it so it wouldn't just sit in my drawer ;-)

I bought this as portable storage for photos and couldn't be happier. Installed a 100GB sata drive I salvaged from an old laptop. That was a snap, took about 1 minute. Aluminum case is nice, very solid and runs cool. Comes with single usb cable with 2 connectors, 1 for data and 1 for power although it didn't seem to need both to run. Has e-sata port but doesn't come with cable. I planned to use usb so that didn't matter to me. I recommend this.

This is a great 2.5" HDD enclosure. The mounting system is very secure. There is a full-length PCB for you to screw the drive onto and that PCB then slides into a little track inside the enclosure. Once everything is in place and end cap is screwed back on, nothing wiggles around in there at all.

I also like the exterior design. There aren't any little nubs or features sticking out to snag on things and break off, so you can easily slip it into a pocket and not worry about damage.

Lastly, the presence and ability to choose between both USB2.0 and eSATA connections is very nice. If you're going to be using the drive a lot and want to dig out the eSATA connection, you can get that extra speed. Or, if you just need to transfer a couple files, you can just hot-plug it with the USB cable and then eject the drive again when you're done. Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and think it is a great bang for the buck.

I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for something that is worth the extra bucks and I think this unit is. It works well and is well built & good looking, especially compared to much cheaper units... so spend the extra few bucks!
