A great cheap alternative to buying an external hard drive if you happen to have an extra internal one around. Easy to put together, simple to format in Windows. Didn't really use the instruction manual, so I'm not sure how helpful it is, but all you really need to do is attach your drive into the case with screws, hook it up to your computer, and then maybe format the drive into NTFS to clear what's already there. I used the built-in Windows formatting tool for this. I like my new drive a lot but wasn't really aware that the cable used up two USB ports. This wasn't really a problem, but if you have a limited number ports it could be. Overall I'm very pleased.
As easy as possible
This case is very easy to use. It's better than the ones with "leather" covers, because these ones tend to slip from the cover (I lost a 120Gb drive because of these covers). The painting doesn't scratch, and the temperature is always okay. Great deal!
Great 2.5 cage for your portable drives.
Bought this to go with my WD 640gb drive and it has not disappointed. eSata works great as does the USB side. One note is that I highly recommend that you buy an extra special USB cable for this unit. So far a regular USB cable has worked fine not requiring the double end for power and data. Some drives though might need both ends to work and in that case you will need the special cable that comes packaged with the unit. Be sure to buy a spare Double USB A to mini B cable because when you need one these are very hard to find.
eSATA undesirable!
Not a bad enclosure but I think current external eSATA are not worth having. First, expect a very modest increase in transfer rate if you have a newer computer comparing USB to eSATA (real world numbers). Second, eSATA is unpowered so you have to carry around and connect two cables (eSATA and USB) decreasing the portability and convenience of the drive. Same amount of money will buy a better USB only case. IMHO
HD Encolsure
A good HD enclosure for 2.5" SATA hard drives.
The screws might be a bit small, but once screwed in, they were not a problem.
Comes with USB cable to connect to computer.
Just plug in and go.
