Amazing Clarity - a perfect phone

(5 out of 5) by Will Knapp on Aug 26, 2009 (Cape May, NJ)
We got this phone specifically because we needed an expandable system that didn't have an answering machine. Voice mail is included in our phone company bundle, so we were unwilling to pay the extra cost for an answering machine. This phone is very easy to work with, very intuitive both in terms of operation and menu access. The phone feel very solid, though we've only had it for two weeks now. But after trying V-Tech, GE and UNIDEN, this seems to be the most physically resilient of them all.

But the #1 feature of this phone - the clarity. With both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz phones, we had a lot of interference and a lot of static. With this phone, I can walk to any part of the house - even a few houses down, and still hear just as well as if I were talking on a wired phone.

I can recommend this system whole-heartedly - ignore the 3-star review of this product, as it specifically states the reason for the 3 stars is the lack of an answering system. As mentioned above, that's the very reason I bought this phone. AT&T makes another model WITH and answering system, so if that's what you need, get that one. But if, like me, you have no use for it, you will be very happy with this phone.

Phine Phone

(5 out of 5) by Kevin McCloskey on May 27, 2009 (Kutztown, PA)
Got this AT&T unit to work with a Vonage internet phone system. The prior phones, V-tech, died a slow death, after about 3 years. When I called V-Tech service, the customer service computer told me to press "1" if I owned my phone for less than 6 months, press "2" for 6 months to 1 year, press "3" for 1 to 2 years and, finally press "4" for over 2 years. I pressed "4" and then the voice instantly said, "good-bye" and hung up on me! So I swore off V-tech.

This ATT phone is not heavy, but still has reasonable heft. Oddly enough, I chose this model as it has so few features, since the Vonage internet device (VDV21/ Router) already provides voicemail, call logging, call waiting, etc. The two replacement batteries for the old V-tech phones cost $32 for the 2, so this 2-phone set for $49 seems a great deal.

When I spoke to the Vonage rep about the new router, I thought she said I could only use just one corded phone, but I guess she meant one line. There is space on the router for a second phone line, but I am only paying for one. This 2 phone system is up an working fine. It takes 16 hours to charge the batteries on the phones to full power, so I would recommend setting it up late at night to give them enough time to charge.

Also worth noting, the phones don't mess up my wireless internet. I was told some older cordless phones might interfere with those signals.

Best cordless phones we've ever purchased

(5 out of 5) by Bill in Louisiana on Aug 31, 2009 (Metairie, Louisiana)
These AT&T phones outperform and outclass any telephones we have ever had in 32 years.

The greatest part about them is the fact that they are equipped with a plug-in battery, rather than the previous (useless) rechargable AAA batteries in our older phones. They stay charged and everything about them is just first class. We mounted the main phone on the kitchen wall; and it stands up while charging, instead of sitting flat in the base...easier to read and use.

On a scale of 1 to 10, they are an 11.

very satisfied

(5 out of 5) by charlene on Oct 7, 2009 (fresh meadows, NY United States)
I was looking for a cordless, caller ID, speakerphone, without an answering machine because I have voice mail, and this phone fit the bill. The reception is quite clear as I move from room to room. It was very easy to set up and use and to figure out the features. I also like the size of the buttons, and can hold and dial using one hand. The called ID is easy to see. As an added bonus, the black and silver works for me.

Delivery from Amazon, as always, was very prompt.

I would recommend this phone.

One of the best phones I've owned

(4 out of 5) by W. Brown on Sep 17, 2009 (Phoenix, AZ USA)
This AT&T DECT phone is one of the best I've owned. The quality of the audio is great; crystal clear as I move about the house. Although somewhat long, the phone is very light. The extension receives a good signal throughout my house. I am completely satisfied with this phone. One extra would be the provision for a earphone jack, but this is a minor problem.
