The Prodigy is a great cover. I try to stay away from leather products, and this synthetic cover has a nice feel to it, without feeling like "fake" leather. The clips feel very secure and the right corner straps anchor your Kindle to the back cover. Many people are using Velcro dots to make the Amazon cover more secure- M-edge kept this in mind with the Prodigy design. The rich red color is a cool toned red- it shows true on a well-calibrated monitor.

Having said this, there are a few quirks. When closed, there is a gap on the left hand side of this cover. This space is designed for the reading light sold by M-edge. Without a light, this space feels clunky and out of place. It makes for a nice holding ledge when the cover is opened and folded back, but when the Kindle isn't in use, the spine collapses on itself. It's not annoying enough to send it back, and I would purchase is again in a heartbeat.

Overall, this is a solid cover with a great feel to it. It will keep your Kindle secure, and provide a reading experience that is far superior to holding a naked reader.

Very attractive cover. It is great protection for the Kindle 2. As another review stated, however, there is a lot of extra room in the binding (for the light), which does make it too awkward to keep the Kindle in the cover for one-handed reading. It is very easy to remove and put back in, though, so this is not a problem. It works perfectly when transporting my Kindle 2 in my purse or briefcase which was my primary reason for purchasing it.

I definitely recommend it.

The "M-edge Prodigy Jacket" is a well made and good looking protective cover for the Kindle 2. Here are my observations:

Pros:
* The synthetic Leather is good looking and not "Pleatherish" at all (note: mine is the "Black" model)
* The restraining strap on the cover works well
* Installing the Kindle 2 is quick and easy (see "Comments" for a link to the instructions on the M-Edge web page)
* Removing the Kindle 2 is also quick and easy
* Cover front folds back for one hand use (but see "Cons", below)
* Inside cover has pockets for business cards, etc
* All connectors and buttons are accessible

Cons:
* There is a lot of space between the Kindle 2 and the spine of the cover. I suspect this is to accommodate the M-Edge e-Luminator book light, shown in the picture, but NOT included. This extra space makes it a little harder for one hand use for those with small hands (not a problem for me).

Overall, this is good investment to protect your Kindle 2.

Got this a month ago and I think it's decent, good enough for not being leather.
However now I wish I would have paid the extra 10 $ and gotten the real thing.
It's a darker in color than what the website shows. I like the hinge system and that you can close it so it can't flip open in my purse. On the downside, it has a specific smell. It's not very strong but has persisted even after a month of using. Also the outside is pretty easy to scratch, nothing major but you might want to consider it if you're going to have it in your purse next to keys or other sharp objects.
Overall not a bad buy, it's a bit think so it will protect the Kindle pretty good but I might upgrade to the leather one when I have money :-).

I love my M-edge jacket!! The hinges fit perfectly into the slots in the new Kindle and the elastic corner retainers keep it from flapping around. There is an inch of so of extra space in the binding where the light would go; however, it doesn't bother me at all during transportation or reading.

I love the little pockets on the front cover too! During travel, i put my plane tickets, ID card and CC in there so that i am not constantly going into by carryon or purse...
