Good TV no matter what the cost

(5 out of 5) by Carmen M. Walker on Apr 1, 2009
I have been shopping for a HDTV of this caliber for a few months. I was pleasantly surprised to find this television at nearly $100 less than many others I have seen in stores. The clarity is fantastic, the color is stunning. It's design is modern and clever, and fits in well with my decor. The location of the power and volume buttons is on the side versus the lop buttons that force you to reach over the television to alter the volume or turn it off. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Excellent product at a great price

(4 out of 5) by Brigitte Rhinehart on Apr 21, 2009 (Phillipsburg MO)
I bought this TV about 2 weeks ago for $ 178.95 incl. shipping. It's an outstanding value for the price as most products of similar quality cost easily $ 50-100 more. The picture quality is superb, I just recommended this TV to a friend.

I agree with a previous reviewer that the remote must be pointed straight at the LCD light for any remote operation.

The other minor drawback is that the favorite channels have to be accessed through the favorite list menu as the channel up and down buttons will go through all the channels that were picked up during programming, regardless whether or not they were designated as favorites.

Other than that, it's a great little TV.

Wow -

(5 out of 5) by Durt on Jun 2, 2009 (Los Angeles)
I was looking for an inexpensive set to do outdoor entertaining duty. I have a 19" Sony and a 50" Panasonic, so my expectations were low. When I connected the unit to a HD source with an HDMI cable, I was shocked. The picture is astonishingly good - not "good for a cheap set," but every bit as impressive as my expensive name brands. Since it will be exposed to temperature extremes and possible condensation - even with a weatherproof cover, I have no idea what it's lifespan will be. But at this price, it's demise will be much easier to deal with should it succumb to the elements. I've only had it for a few days, but my impression of the unit right out of the box couldn't be more positive.

This TV has all the connections one can imagine .The picture quality is very good.
The bad : remote control has to be pointed exactly toward the TV or it wouldn't work.

Great Value; Why Spend More?

(5 out of 5) by Curtis Woodcock on Apr 26, 2009 (Portland, OR USA)
I went to all the stores and looked at all the leading brands of 19" HDTV's. Frankly, the image quality of this Coby is equal to the best of the leading brands. The tuner does a good job while only using an inexpensive indoor antenna (I live in a major metro area only about 5 miles from the transmitter towers). The sound quality is surprisingly good with plenty of volume if you need it. The HDMI input is working perfectly with an upscaling dvd player and the image is crystal clear. The remote looks a little weird but everything on it functions well. The HDTV set itself is a glossy black and looks very nice -- as good or better than any of the major brands. I really have nothing bad to say about this television. I've been very happy with it and I used the money that I saved to purchase the upscaling dvd player. Also, J&R shipped promptly and has been very good to deal with. I would definitely recommend this Coby 19" HDTV to a friend.
