it's ok.
Of the 3 Asprie Ones I have purchased this is the first one in Windows XP. (others were the far superior linux) The little net books are ultra portable and Acer makes a fairly decent product. Here are my thoughts:
Cons:
#1-It runs the worst operating system EVER! (windows)
#2-The poor little processor gets bogged down a bit with all the silly windows updates.
#3-Anti-Virus is a must! of course that means bogging down the little computer with even more silly updates and system scans.
#4-did I mention it runs windows. ugh! what happened to the Linux ones?
#5-The track pad is a tricky little bugger and it takes a lot of getting used to.It's best to purchase an extra USB mouse to use.
#6- it runs windows :-(
#7- watching full screen movies pushes the processor to its limits. The movie and audio can skip a bit.
#8-tiny netbook = tiny wi-fi antennae.expect degraded wifi performance.
#9- windows... its yucky.and chances are good the netbook will virus crash.
Pros:
#1- cheap price, makes it expendable. Hurts less if something should happen to it.
#2- Ultra-Portable. it takes up very little valuable space in your suitcase.
#3- Extra long battery life! I used it all the way across the atlantic, watching almost 5hrs of full screen video.
#4- the screen is nice, bright, and great picture quality.
3 stars because of the windows and all the related ills that come with it. Such as viruses, endless updates, and questionable system security. All this is tasking the tiny processor. The physical hardware is good except for the track pad. I hope this helps.

Glitch with Microsoft
We gave this a one star rating because of a Microsoft problem. Our computer came with the Outlook Express Spell Check in French only. We spent all afternoon on the phone with Acer Tech Support trying to get it changed without success. We returned it to Amazon for another but it too had the same problem. Acer Tech Support tried to recover the system two different times on two days, but both times failed. If you can live without spell check, it seems like a great little computer, but because we need spell check, it is unusable for us.

speakers
The volume on this product is horrible. I tried to watch a movie and was unable to hear the movie with the volume as loud as it would get.

love lost
When I opened the box for the Acer One 10.1 inch Aspire, I fell in love. It was soooo cute! The compact size and tidy design just made me giddy. The screen was super clear and colorful. Keyboard, finger mouse, speed, sound all good. I read the manual first. Novel idea, I know. And that was the first little glitch. The manual is very generic often stating, "depending on the model." The very first thing I was encouraged to do was activate a factory back-up using Acer's built-in system. Well, you have to have a portable drive to do that. That was the second glitch. I borrowed one from my tech guy at work. Five and a half hours and nine CDs later, the back up still wasn't finished. I didn't have any more discs so I had to abort. I decided to go ahead and use the computer anyway. It was becoming apparent that I would need a portable CD/DVD-rom drive for lots of things meaning an additional $100 at least. I downloaded my iTunes library and my digital camera software. I put Chuzzle on it and Yahoo toolbar. Then, it crashed. Strike three. I got the dreaded System32 hal.dll error message on a dos screen, totally frozen no Windows access at all. The Acer people responded quickly to my email (on another computer), but it was no use. I would have to buy the boot up disk for $20 and the portable drive and another Microsoft Office (used my third download on the license) because the re-boot would swipe it clean. I realized then that I didn't really want a netbook with no internal disc drive. Amazon was very reasonable about my returning it as is. I still think it is a sweet little laptop. Either I got a dud or the things I wanted to use it for were too much for it. My suggestion to Acer is to make the manual more informative. Had I known what the factory back up would entail, I'd have prepared for it. Also, all the solutions they offered me except for one included a model with an internal disc drive. If you buy this netbook, get the portable disc drive too. You're going to need it.

Wireless Connectivity Issue
Before you get a little too excited about this product, let it be known that this toy has wireless connectivity issues. Even Acer is of very little help in this department. Other than that, it's a fine little machine.
