It's the best!!

I've been considering getting a Mac for a long time. Wish I'd gotten it sooner. So easy to use. Extremely happy with this purchase. I can say enough good things about it. I LOVE it!!!

Love it

What's not to like? This replaced an older iMac. I hooked it up to an external monitor, bluetooth keyboard and mouse....and now I have 2 computers in one. Works beautifully. Make sure you get a palmrest protector with it.

5-stars, until I couldn't print

(4 out of 5) by DDL on Feb 20, 2009
I was amazed (and pleased!) to find that Amazon has this product $40 cheaper than the Apple store.

It's a Mac. I am totally happy with the experience of setting it up and getting it up and running. It was a 5-star experience, until I plugged in my HP OfficeJet G85 printer. Now it's a 4-star experience. The drivers for OS 10.5 (Leopard) don't work with the OfficeJet line. There's lots of advice on how to tweak it or otherwise re-jigger it to get it to work, but that's time and technical ability that I'd rather not have to develop. The whole point was that stuff "just worked."

Oh well.

Update (3/5):

Ultimately, the Macbook can't be held responsible. After a good bit of research, turns out the HP did not implement the standard USB Print interface in its OfficeJet series, and CUPS is attempting to talk to it via this method. This probably isn't totally surprising, as the OfficeJet I had was an early adopter of the USB interface for printers. Note that I said "had."

The solution was to go get a Canon Pixma MX700 (Amazon, $139), which plugged in and worked flawlessly with the Macbook.

Beyond that, the Macbook has been a 5-star experience for the last 3 weeks! I'm getting used to the flow of things (admitted former WinXP user). I love the two-finger functionality of the touchpad -- wish my work laptop (WinXP) had it! Have added new software without any hiccups (NeoOffice, Firefox, Skype, Yahoo Messenger, Google Earth). So far, very happy with the purchase!
