Are you kidding!!!!???

Why on earth would you ever spend [...] bucks on these cables in a store? These are gold plated, and work amazing. Absolutley no difference in quality to the big brands. In fact Monster cable has nothing on these cables. Awesome!

Nice cable

(3 out of 5) by Jimbo on Sep 12, 2009 (Texas)
No problems at all. Came with nice caps on each end, cable is sturdy without being too stiff. The gold plated connectors and 8' length are pluses. It does what it's supposed and seems well made, but I haven't had it long enough to judge just how well made. It's reasonably priced, although there are many less expensive cables out there that may work just as well. I'll give it a 'style' point for the two tone connectors, but if I were marketing it, I would make multiple colors available so that people with numerous HDMI inputs and outputs could easily see what component was routed to which socket without physically tracing the cable - that would provide a readily apparent justification for the higher price. Even though quality of manufacture may justify a higher price already, the level of quality is not obvious to the purchaser and 'Cables To Go' can not trade on their reputation like some others are doing, some exorbitantly so.

Summary - I'm glad to see the day of $50-$100 HDMI cables at an end, and this one will provide good service for a modest price.

Superb picture quality

(5 out of 5) by Zachary J. DeLand on Aug 28, 2009 (East Lansing, MI USA)
I received one of these cables with a package deal that included the Samsung LN40B630 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color and the Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player, Black. I hooked up the Blu-ray player to the TV with the HDMI cable and was simply blown away by the clarity of the picture. I have yet to see a supposedly superior Monster cable at work, but since the HDMI signal is DIGITAL, you either get a signal or you don't, unlike analog cables which can suffer from image degradation from inferior cables. Stick with this cable--hey, if it fails, you can still buy nine more for the price of one Monster HDMI cable!

Why Pay More?

(5 out of 5) by Troutrageous1 on Aug 28, 2009 (Limerick, PA)
I purchased two of these cables to connect my cable box & blu-ray player to my new Samsung LCD TV. I have to say they seem to work great. Don't appear to see any interference or distortion you may think you'd get from an inexpensive cable, but isn't that what digital signals are all about? I see no reason why anybody would go out and buy a Monster cable for 10x the price.

Great Value

(5 out of 5) by Lisa Shea on Jun 19, 2009
We have tried a number of HDMI cables over the years. The Cables To Go 98035 HDMI Cable is very inexpensive and provides the same quality as many much more expensive HDMI cables we have used.

The connectors here are 24 karat. This isn't about "bling" - it's about the gold providing a clear signal in the important location of where the signal has to "cross" from the cable to the source or receiving unit.

HDMI is used by many of the high end systems on the market - the PS3, XBox 360 and BluRay DVD players. We do video game testing in our household and our consoles are running pretty much 24x7. We notice fairly quickly if we have a distortion problem with any of our video systems.

We didn't have any problems at all with this cable. If anything, it was more flexible - and therefore easier to bend around corners - than some other more expensive cables we own. Its 8 foot length is reasonably long. We do have some longer cables we use in certain situations, but the 8 feet was a good match for where we have our XBox 360 located. The length of a given cable of course comes down to your own home layout. You don't want lots of extra cable looping around and getting in the way, but a too-short cable is a royal pain. It's always wise to measure out the entertainment center you are setting up, determining the ideal length of cable to go between your key locations, and then getting a cable to exactly match that need.

How about cheaper cables? You'd probably be hard pressed to find a cable cheaper than this one, and many do not have the gold plated connectors. While most HDMI cables provide exactly the same quality, I will say that super cheap connectors WILL be noticeable. We don't use any of those in our house (for perhaps the obvious reason). It is worth it to make sure your HDMI cable at least meets that basic requirement. Also, if you somehow managed to find a HDMI cable with NO shielding along its length, that could also have problems due to nearby cable interference.

That all being said, this cable is inexpensive and works perfectly well. Given its low cost, it is highly recommended.
