Best NAS I've ever used!

(5 out of 5) by Jeffrey Zehler on Feb 9, 2009 (El Dorado Hills, CA USA)
I really like this NAS. It was very easy to setup and very easy to use. The web based media player is a great feature which easily let me queue up music from any web browser in my house. The remote access feature just simply rocks! I live in California and during a recent trip to the East coast I was able to easily login and stream music across the country without any buffer delays (my friends back East didn't believe I was streaming music from my NAS in my house back in California). I bought a second 1TB WD green technology drive and was able to easily use the configuration page to configure raid for data protection. This is by far the best NAS I've ever purchased and used!

Great backup product

(5 out of 5) by Steve Smith on May 10, 2009 (NJ, USA)
I bought this to replace an HP Media Vault that died prematurely.

The setup and software from Cisco is much better. I was able to install the software on each computer in the house and they all back up to the Media Hub.

OK performance

(3 out of 5) by Paul Brzezinski on Jul 7, 2009 (Royal Oak, MI United States)
I chose this product because it had expandable storage and Gigabit Ethernet. The local network that this device sits on was hubbed by a 100MB/sec device so the Gig-E speed wasn't realized. I purchased this device so that I could backup a PC with 2 internal drives [~350GB total] and would have liked to use Vista's backup utility to create an image of these two drives. [Assumption] That's not possible because the device doesn't directly connect. It was not obvious -- how one might use Windows Backup/Restore utility to do file-level backups to this device, so I used the software that came with the device. This was OK because the files are stored on the device in a browsable directory tree that matches the original file-system layout on the device that was backed up. It took almost 30 hours to complete the backup of about 350GB. Would I make this purchase again? Probably, but I would also ensure that the network could run at Gigabit speed as well. Price wasn't the leading factor in the purchase, the network speed and ability to add additional storage was.

Glorified Hard disk

(1 out of 5) by Joseph E. Morrissette on Nov 5, 2009 (USA)
The Media Hub is but a glorified hard disk and expensive as such. You can't access the files from the build-in display. The USB connection in the back is a Standard A instead of the usual Standard B, really silly because it prevents you from connecting it to The PC,players and TV using a standard USB cable. The support from Linksys is horrible; I search for the NHM 410 and they only recognized the model 300. Some good advise; do not download the latest firmware updates, wait until Cisco gets it fixed.
The system is slow, it pauses in a middle of a song waiting for the network and the supplied media player fails again and again and does not allow you to play a full CD. Back to the drawing board Cisco!

(5 out of 5) by Ved on Sep 16, 2009 (san jose, ca USA)
In 15 minutes, I had Mead Hub working on my wireless network.

Positive:
- Beautiful Looking Box
- Good Performance
- Very Easy Setup (Instructions are so easy, anyone can configure and have it up running in a few minutes)
- Low noise (Only hard disk drive running sound I can hear)
-
Cons:
- None so far.

Kudos to Linksys/Cisco.
