Non-Technical Single Mom Review

(5 out of 5) by D. Perricelli-gulli on Sep 14, 2009 (EAST COAST)
My 22" monitor blew and I hooked up an old 14", that's right, 14 INCH TV type monitor I had in my garage from 1995. (Something told me to not throw it away) Anyway, after a few days on that, my eyes were killing me. I started researching a new LCD. I enjoyed my 22" but figured if I could go a bit bigger, why not!

I am a single mom so my budget was not high. I did my research extensively and found this 23.6" beauty. With the free shipping offered at Amazon.com, it was the best deal I could find ANYWHERE. (And I looked in many stores and websites) All I can say is WOW!! The color is nice & the size is gigantic. My eyes thank me since there is no eye strain needed to view it. I am not technical so I can not get into the buttons and features as I do not use them. The monitor was super simple to hook up...even for me. Took me about 5 minutes to get it powered up. Watching a show on Hulu or a video on Youtube was like watching it on regular tv. Sweet!

If you are on the fence about purchasing this monitor, trust me when I tell you, you will not be disappointed. Hit the BUY button before they discontinue it as most models get replaced by new models. For the price, this is the WINNER!

Great value for the money

(5 out of 5) by David Chang on Jul 12, 2009 (SJ, Costa Rica)
I got this monitor some weeks ago for $189, and it's great... default color presets are not very satisfying, but after playing it for a while it works great, 1920x1080 is great to use programing IDEs, watch movies, gaming, etc... it's a excellent price/product deal

Asus sucks - Amazon Rocks!

(2 out of 5) by K. KANNUR on Oct 25, 2009
I had this monitor for 2 months and one fine day it broke down. Now all I see is a grey static on the monitor.
I was out of return period for this product, however, since Asus had recommended that I obtain the RMA from my retailer, I just sent out a mail asking amazon for help, and guess what,
Amazon has offered to ship me a replacement for this monitor! I am so amazed by amazon, I just cant thank enough.

Btw, on the monitor itself,
When it worked, it was a charm, however, it just went to junk in a span of 2 months (too short of a life span for any electronic device esp one that comes our from a reputed (not sure of that now) company), and I have seen similar reviews from quite some people. - how I wish I read more reviews before purchasing this product.

Also,
I would recommend going to an asus product only when you are sure that there is someone else to support you (in my case it was amazon), cos you would not want to get frustrated with some useless customer support from Asus!

Similar to other reviews here, worked for two months then died

(1 out of 5) by indiefilm on Oct 9, 2009 (Los Angeles)
Well, it was great while it worked, then it up and died after two months.

The only option I have is to send it back to Asus to have it repaired, which is what I have opted to do. I have no idea what will be returned to me. Perhaps another one that dies in two months or maybe one that works forever, who knows? But with the hassle of buying a box, packing it up and sending it at my own expense back to ASUS, it's really not worth the hassle.

Hopefully, I'll get a monitor that works once it's returned to me. However, I wouldn't buy this monitor again, nor would I buy an Asus product. Their products are certainly cheap in price, but very substandard in quality in my opinion and don't seem to last very long.

ASUS 24 inch lcd monitor = joke

(1 out of 5) by Pen Name on Oct 6, 2009 (USA)
I echo "Reviewer's" comments. Worked for a month and then died. No picture, only grey static. Monitor controls were completely unresponsive. ASUS support also unresponsive; tried to blame it on a brand new Dell CPU. The adage "you get what you pay for" applies to ASUS (purveyor of cheap junk).
