Sounds good for its size. Wasn't expecting base and there isn't much if you're use to a regular set of speakers with full range drivers. Touch controls on the top work good. But when I plugged in my iPhone 3g I expecting to see my phone start charging automatically. Nothing. It plays music but that's about it. I was wanting this by my bed so I could charge my phone at night. Not going to happen with this device. Oh, and if you put the wrong cradle adapter in like I did, there is a little opening behind the adapter piece on the device which will need to have a knife stuck in it. Pull it upwards to make that little plastic piece come out. Took me a while to figure that one out so I hope it helps someone. Also, the remote buttons took too much work to press and you have to point the remote right at the sensor, not just in the general direction of the unit. I hate that. And I'm not lazy or old with pain in my hands. I'm 22 and I think it is overly hard to press the buttons.
Broke after less than 10 uses
I got the inmotion speakers a few months ago, used it less than 10 times and it broke (basically it shorts out after it has been on for a few minutes and takes on a mind of its own). Altec is replacing it, but I would not purchase it again.
Lasted Six Months
I was initially satisfied with the IMT702. It didn't sound as good as the Bose but it was half the price. I guess you get what you pay for. The IMT702 lasted only six months until it totally failed. It began to simply make a "pop" sound and then stop working after about two minutes after turn on. I would then unplug it and turn it on again only to have this pattern repeated. Needless to say, its useless now. I cannot recommend this product.
Altec IMT702 Good Sound, Poor Controls
The speaker system works fine, has good sound output - plenty of volume for use outside. The control buttons on the top of the unit seem cheap in construction and are not the easiest to use. The unit works fine with my iphone 3G and does recharge the phone.
Nice sound and look, but touch sensitive buttons are driving me crazy
Logitech, you got the buttons dead wrong. Touch sensitive and on the top? Any time I pick up the radio or reach across it I change the station, volume, etc. Think before you follow an Apple trend. It is annoying. If the buttons were on the face of the unit, then touch would have made sense because they would have been less likely to push, and would be easier to activate since the unit would want to tip backwards when pushed. But on the top, where it is easy to adequately supply ample pressure to push in a button? c'mon. Did you do any testing of this product? The second you saw your testers push twice to get a response from the unit should have clearly indicated you have an interface problem. Sound is fine and tuner works well.
