broke in 6 months
The product works pretty well, although I agree with other reviewers that the buttons are kind of glitchy - they should have just gone with pressure sensitive buttons. Sometimes, no matter what button you push, the result is that the volume goes up. Weird. The design otherwise works well. The sound is good, an it's cool to be able to go cordless with it.
Aside from all that, the product completely stopped working after less than 6 months. It lights up, but produces no sound. I'm trying to get Altec Lansing to exchange it. Even more disturbing is that I originally purchased the IN MOTION IM600, and it broke in about 2 weeks! At this point, I am obviously pretty disappointed in the quality of products from Altec Lansing.

Altec Lansing IMT702 Iphone dock
Unit nicely made, sound quality very good.
Only problem with unit is matching up the Ipod inserts supplied with unit. The inserts are numbered, but nowhere in the manual is that number associated with the specific Ipod/Iphone.
Would recommend unit and Electronic Expo to my friends.

Good Buy Good Quality
I had been looking for a speakers to use on my deck, when someone suggested ths type of system. As it turns out this was the right choice for me. Although you can turn up the volume quite high, it does start to get a little distorted. My only real dislike is the battery life is only 3 hours, and the fittings for the various types of idpods are not labeled which was kind of annoying when you are switching ipods around. You know how when you are having a gathering everyone wants you to hear a song on their ipod!
Overall, I like it. Especially since its compact enough to travel with... It fits neatly in my lap top case.
Not disappointed, pretty good sound!

I'll start our by saying that I was trying to save money vs the Bose which I know to be a quality product. I was happy with this product for the first day. I liked the additional features such as radio & clock not offered by the Bose.
But the Altec did not turn on the second day - it just would not turn on - crazy. So I returned this product & purchased a Boston Acoustic model which had the same features. I was happy with the Boston for the first day & the second day the volume control did not work. I returned it. I then just ponied up the extra money for the Bose & it is perfect.
no clock or radio but works great for my iPod.

Disappointing
After searching for an Ipod docking station for my patio, I am very disappointed with the Altec Lansing IMT702 speaker system.
The good: The system is small, lightweight and relatively easy to use.
It also feels somewhat fragile. It would be helpful to label the various cradle adaptors.
Personally, I would prefer actual buttons to the touch controls. It was difficult to use outside at night.
The bad: For the price, I was not expecting Bose quality. I've found that beyond very low listening levels, the sound quality is poor. I used it at a party last night and above level 25, it was increasingly "tinny." There was a rattle and constricted range at the mid-higher volumes. My Bose computer speakers are far superior to this system.
The ugly: My Ipod froze during a song after playing for an hour or so. While I rebooted, we tried another Ipod. it also froze within 20 minutes or so. Rebooted both, tried one, and again it froze during a song. That's unacceptable - even at this price point.
Any suggestions for a better dock?
