Excellent sound

(4 out of 5) by Jane Austen on Jun 1, 2009 (Florence, AL)
The first one I received had a defective battery/charging mode, but was replaced immediately (thanks Amazon). For the size and portability this has terrific sound and is compatible with the IPhone. I have tried several products like this and it is superior to all the others by far--a great deal for the price.

Small footprint, good sound

(4 out of 5) by Albatross on May 13, 2009 (USA)
Nice sound for what it is, a small desktop radio / iPod / iPhone player.
You can get decent volume without distortion.

Small footprint (only about 5 1/4" deep with iPod dock extended).
Display screen scrolls tagged info for artist, album and song.

Remote allows you basic radio functions and 4 presets. Also, you can scan songs on the iPod using the Altec remote.

I use the remote most of the time, so I haven't had major issues with the top buttons that some others have complained about.

I use an iPod Touch 2G with this. It does charge the iPod.

This was an upgrade from a Logic3 iStation

Does not work after 2 months

(2 out of 5) by Obotchaman on Mar 31, 2009 (Kearney, Nebraska)
I bought the imt702 in January and everything worked until after 2 months. The unit just cannot power on. Talked to support and the thing is going back for a replacement.

Awesome sound at a portable lightweight package!

(5 out of 5) by scooter on Mar 11, 2009 (Reno, NV)
I bought mine at Best Buy to ensure that I could return the unit quickly if defective after reading the comments I saw on here. Also need to feel, see and compare it with the other systems in person.

I was amazed with the crispy clear sound coming out of this box only 2 inches thick(especially with ESS on)! The speaker system is about the size of my Macbook but thicker, after the dock(remote control too!)and stand had been inserted flush inside the speaker system. It was even lighter than my Mac as if there were no speakers installed, wondering where the rich bass is coming from! Worked flawlessly with my 80G ipod video and iphone 3G(pop-up on your iphone telling you to switch to airplane mode, just click NO)without any GSM interference since the speakers are shielded. Charges both of them too, just didn't use the adaptors(there are 5 of them) because it adds thickness and prevents a secure and clean connection to my video ipod and iphone. I just slide the tray back a little so my player can lean flat against the speaker grill. This also has a replaceable rechargeable battery if you don't feel like carrying the adaptor with you and get 3 hours of music on one charge.

I chose the Altec Lansing instead of the Bose since it also has a FM tuner and the shape allows me to use a laptop bag when I take it with me when I sail for months!

If only it worked

(1 out of 5) by Joan on Nov 9, 2009 (NJ)
I received this as a gift and for the first month, I loved it.

Easy to use, good sound quality, nice size.

And then the volume control stopped working. Regardless which control (manual or remote) I use, the volume won't increase or decrease--it's stuck as is. Reading the reviews here, I see that my problem is not unique.
