Very nice!

(4 out of 5) by S. Mcshane on Dec 23, 2008 (Washington State)
I received this cover as a gift. I am really happy with it, and it exceeded my expectations. The picture, unfortunately, does not correctly reflect the color. It is several shades darker of a blue, and I don't know if I would actually call it a royal blue - more of a medium blue with a hint of royal tint to it. I will say that the color is pleasing to the eye.

I was surprised at how soft and supple the cover feels for being faux leather. It feels like leather. The other nice thing is it isn't stinky like many vinyl type products. The contrasting stitching on it is even and looks very nice and well made. The inside tabs that hold the Kindle in place are nice and tight. It took a little working to get the Kindle in, but once there, it really holds it nicely without fear of it slipping out. I also like that the cover is slightly wider than the Kindle, so there is less danger of the right page turning button getting knocked into by items in your bag.

I have read other reviews on this cover criticizing the insert tab closure on this cover - that it can be difficult to get into the slot over time. I can definitely see where this might be an issue, but it appears they may have improved on this a little by sewing something hard into the tab itself so it is a little stiffer. Over time and heavy use, this might be a concern as it weakens.

The interior of the cover is soft, and appears to be similar to the material on the interior of the original Kindle cover. The spine is a little bigger than necessary, but it is designed to hold a pen, and leave room for anything you put in the pockets on the left inside cover. When you have the cover open and you are reading your Kindle, the tab is in the way and can be a little annoying. I solved this problem by tucking it back into its slot while the cover is in the open position. Because of the larger spine on this cover, you definitely have more to hold on to when reading, though this cover is not as stiff as the original Kindle cover, so it takes a little getting used to - it can feel a little "floppy" at first, but it really isn't.

I gave the product four stars instead of five, for the reasons above, plus it is really annoying that there are no slots for turning the Kindle on and off - the same problem with the original cover. You have to dig a finger between the cover to turn the switches, and the fact that there is an elastic strap to hold the Kindle on that side makes it a little more difficult. I have taken to slipping that strap under that corner of the Kindle since the other tabs hold it in nicely and this one seems extraneous.

m-edge kindle cover

(5 out of 5) by C. Pimentel on Feb 1, 2009 (Massachusetts)
The cover is very well made, and is of very good quality. The kindle stays secure with the elastic corner straps. It is much nicer than the cover that comes with the kindle. Together with the e-luminator, it is very easy to read in bed, which is when I do most of my reading.

Nifty little case!

(5 out of 5) by Stefanie Scott on Sep 29, 2009 (St. Louis, MO)
I really like this case. A lot of other reviews reported the top right retention strap held down the "next page" button, but that has not happened at all while I have been using this case. I feel that it protects my Kindle much better than the case it came with. When I carried my Kindle in my purse with the original case, the back battery cover often came off. Because this one has four pockets to hold it in place, that never happens and it stays closed much better with the tab than with the elastic band. I also bought the book light made by M-Edge and it fits in here seamlessly. All in all, I am more than pleased with this purchase.

wonderful

(5 out of 5) by V. Harris on Sep 23, 2009
I just love that there are little storage pockets on the front inside cover for a cleaning cloth, extra memory card, etc. There is also a loop for a writing object.
It's nice to be able to choose colors other than black.

Cover for Kindle 1

(5 out of 5) by Tim Kornegay on Sep 11, 2009 (seattle)
Ordered this to replace the cover the Kindle 1 came with. This is a great choice. It has pockets on the inside cover, and a pen holder. I'm always writing notes about books to try and there is a place to keep them now. Great product.
