I just got this bag today and was excited to see how it fits my new Gateway FX 17inch wide-screen laptop. I have good and bad news. The bad news is that it does NOT fit into the designated TSA-friendly compartment, with or without the battery. It does not fit into the Velcro slot, it does not fit into the compartment itself outside the Velcro pocket at all, it simply cannot be zipped up with the laptop in it. HOWEVER, it DOES fit into both of the main compartments, even with the over-sized battery, making this bag the first one I could find to fit a laptop this size. There is plenty of padding, but a little extra, like one of the ever-so-popular sleeves, wouldn't hurt (assuming you can find one this size). This bag is not designed to fit a lot of stuff, but has enough pockets and room for the power adapter and some other paraphernalia, making it a good choice for day-to-day use or air travel with a large 17inch wide-screen. And the TSA-designated compartment? Well, it fits paperwork like a charm. There are two "main" compartments. One is quite slim, in the back, making it the perfect TSA replacement for the large laptop I have. The front half is more roomy, fitting the power adapter, a book or few, and has two mesh pockets for smaller things. On the front of the bag there are two more external pockets: one is a smaller zipped one, perfect for travel documents and air tickets, the other is a bit bigger and closes with a magnet. The materials feel sturdy and the bag itself seems well designed overall, so it's a keeper for me. It's sleek and stylish for the price, definitely better than the bags I could find in retail stores at triple the price and up. Hope this helps other people like me looking for a nice bag for a large laptop.

Just received this in the mail, a full day ahead of schedule with the 2-day shipping option. The notebook bag is spacious, with plenty of room for my 15.4" laptop computer. Additional storage is available, with an organizer pocket and a compartment big enough for paper notebooks, folders, etc. The shoulder strap included with the product looks to be fairly sturdy. All in all, it looks to be a great value for a checkpoint-friendly notebook bag.

I wholeheartedly agree with another person's review that this is indeed a TSA/checkpoint friendly laptop bag that fits a 17" notebook.

I just received mine, and my 17" HP dv7t notebook fits just fine! It should be promoted this way on the Amazon website...I spent a lot of time looking for a checkpoint friendly bag for a 17" notebook and only because of the other person's review of this product, did I find one.

Granted it's not the most stylish bag in the world, but it is sturdy and should get the job done, not to mention you can't beat the price with free shipping.
