Quality Sound

(4 out of 5) by J. I. McGyver on Jul 21, 2009
I was blown away by the sound that was being delivered by this incredible headset. From power ballads to infused shake the paint off the wall numbers, this product delivered the music full throttle. To be perfectly honest, I just didn't think that Altec Lansing could pull it off.

Now that we know better, Both my Ipods and laptop all paired well with the UHP326 headset. Noise isolation was on point. These guys bring it on with a pair of titanium enhanced micro speakers that for me are second to none. Bass and treble were balanced. The enriched sound literally speaks volumes.

Marked with left/right ear ID, the internal wiring is coated/insulated with something that I have not seen in quite some time. 46 inches of tangle free wire cloth. There is noise pickup from the coating, however it was not that big of a deal. I like the wire cloth over the usual tangled mess of comparable products.

The UHP326 headphones come packed with (8) ear tips in sizes S, M, & L that scored high on the comfort meter. A set of dual flange extra noise reduction tips also come attached to the unit. Altec added a nice, soft round zip case as part of the package as well. This headset carries the standard 2 year Altec Lansing/Plantronics warranty.

This model comes close to outclassing my high end and overpriced headset. Once a force in wall to wall sound, Altec Lansing is definitely on its way back. The UHP326 headset is undoubtedly one of the sweetest surprises in electronics. As a musician and consumer this product goes the distance.

Wow!!!

(5 out of 5) by Omar on Apr 13, 2009
I bought this product reluctantly (because I couldn't listen before buying) and based purely on a cnet recommendation along with the customer reviews here on Amazon. I have owned three iPods and am now embarrassed to say that this is the first time I ever thought of upgrading the headphones that come with the iPod. And all I can say is WOW!!! The sound of these earbuds is just incredible! I feel like I'm in an entirely different, far superior sonic universe now whenever I listen to my iPod. The presence of actual, real, deep bass, balanced mid-tones, without any crashy highs is exciting beyond words. The sound quality of these earbuds easily beats not just the Bose Tri-Port's in my opinion but just about any headset made by Bose at a fraction of the price. I mean, I paid $40 for these out the door - delivered!

I had a friend of my whom is a professional DJ here in Los Angeles try them out the day after they arrived and he was immediately impressed, they even out-bassed his Senheisser Pro DJ quality full-size headphones - that's how good these are. . . .

Look, I'll be honest here, I'm not one of those guys who has owned all kinds of exotic, high-priced headphones before to compare these with, but I am someone who knows what tight bass and smooth mid-tones should sound like and I know these headphones have it. I was just looking for a small, inexpensive upgrade to my iPod's earbuds but I got so much more than that.

Don't walk - run and get these as soon as you can. You will not be dissapointed.

Altec Lansing Titanium

(5 out of 5) by Audio A Fan on Feb 15, 2009 (Wilmington, NC)
I bought these to replace my old headphones that sucked. These were by far the best headphones that I have ever heard. I have many friends that are musicians and these headphones are comparable to those of in ear monitors that professional musicians use. The only problem that I had with them is that the woven cord amplifies the sound of the cord rubbing on something when you are listening to them, but if you have the volume set right you don't really notice.

Horrible noise--very dissappointed

(1 out of 5) by just shopping on Jun 20, 2009 (Mt. West)
After lots of research and reading several positive reviews on these earphones, I placed my order. Unfortunately, I had to return them as the sound was absolutely horrible.

The problem with these headphones(as others have mentioned) is that any time the cord rubs against anything (especially clothing), there is static sound. The sound of the cord rubbing is amplified making it difficult to hear the music clearly.

I would definitely not recommend them. I am still looking for some good ones--these are definitely not worth it. Although they seem like they would hold up quality-wise, the sound of the rubbing is absolutely horrible. If they made the cord out of plastic instead of the other material, perhaps that would solve the problem.

The place I bought it from (Electronics Expo on Amazon) had excellent customer service via email. They were prompt in allowing me to return them. I recommend the seller, but not the product.

Great bang for buck

(4 out of 5) by Wiley on Oct 8, 2009 (USA)
Great sound for the money, Nicely balanced sound, yes, the cord makes some noise, just about every set if iem cords do. That said, the sound is balanced, and quite above avreage at this price range. Sadly, I couldn't get a comfortable fit. This doesn't have anything to do with the set, all sets don't fit all ears. My rating is based on the sound, and the fact that most will find a fit. At this price, can't go wrong. Balanced is the best one word description I can give, if you seek thumping bass, look elsewhere, these have good bass, just not heavy sounding.
