Good Protection for Lens
Even if you don't buy this to use different filters, consider getting it and a 46mm UV filter just to protect your expensive lens at all times. If the lens cap gets knocked off, the worst that can happen is you get dust on your filter. If you're hard on your cameras, this is a must-have. [No I /can't/ justify the price for this small tube.]

The missing part for your Leica D-Lux 4 or Panasonic LX3
For the two dollars it probably cost to manufacture this part, it should have been included with these cameras. Anyway, you should get this to protect and enhance your lens. These two cameras are unique in their capabilities. With this, you can do even more - go really wide angle or use filters to get more of the effect you want without photoshopping each frame. Worth the high price that makes a system camera out of these little point and shoots. Another useful bit of kit is the Metz AF48 flash for olympus, panasonic, and leica. Also expensive but worth it. Costs about the same as the Panasonic flash but has more power. Go light, be quick, get the shot!
Panasonic DMW-LA4 Conversio0n Adapter
It took a while to get this product but it was worth the wait. This beauty now adds protection to my LX3 lens and I'm now able to use my UV and polarizing filter (PF), useful to get those veiling effects on waterfalls I love to take. The PF enables me to set a slow shutter speed while having great dof. Woohoo let go on a photo-shoot!

A simple way to improve image quality
Ordered this adapter for my LX-3 so I can use a circular polarizing filter for all my images. I ware polarized sunglasses to reduce glare, improve color and enhance contrast in my vision. Just want the same benefits for my digital images w/o post development enhancement. As the LX-3 is so new, the device is on back order with Amazon. This adapter is definitely worth the wait.
