Read and decide

(1 out of 5) by ARiS on Dec 22, 2008 (PA, USA)
My experience with this company/product may be different than yours, but I feel that I have to share it and allow everyone to decide for themselves.

I purchased this battery as a direct replacement to the (optional) 85WHr battery that DELL offered when I ordered my laptop; what this means is that the capacity that I expected, was...well, 85WHr.

I am very particular about getting my money's worth (GASP! go figure!), and I tested my original battery thouroughly prior to ordering this one from SterlingTek, to make sure that it was at its absolute "end". I use several pieces of software that analyze EVERYTHING about a laptop battery...and I mean EVERYTHING (capacity, wear level, charging current, discharging current, ACTUAL remaing life etc).

What surprised me when I checked the numbers (Whr, mAh etc) for my "brand new" SterlingTek battery was the following:
1) The battery was advertised as an 85Whr battery, but the actual MEASURED "DESIGNED" capacity (the capacity that the battery SHOULD be able to hold) was LESS than 72Whr. In other words, MORE than 15% reduction in the advertised capacity.

but wait...there is more.

2) The DESIGNED capacity MAY have been 72Whr, but the problem was that my battery had a "WEAR level" (as batteries get old, their ability to hold a charge diminishes) of 8%. So MY battery was actually able to hold significantly less (66Whr - MAXIMUM).

Is this battery BETTER than my original -almost DEAD- DELL battery? (at its current state of course). Yes, sure. But paying MORE and receiving A LOT less is simply unacceptable to me. Reading all the good reviews made me think that I would be receiving...well, what I paid for ($100); as it turns out SterlingTek's performance was MUCH LESS than "Sterling" (pun intended).

The numbers and analyses may not mean much to some people, so in the interest of keeping it simple I will close with ONLY this: the battery had ALMOST 25% LESS capacity than advertised (fully charged).

Last but not least; ALL the numbers above, all the testing was repeated with three pieces of software, SEVERAL times in order to make sure that I was getting FAIR results. I had no other business with Streling before this and will have no other business with them in the future.

I do have to acknowledge that they DID respond to my email, offering to refund my money minus a SMALL 15% restocking fee. Thanks SterlingTek!

Hope this helps.

I highly recommend buying SterlingTek's POWWER Inspiron 1501 85 WHr 9-Cell 7200 mAH Lithium-Ion Battery for Dell Laptop

(5 out of 5) by Robert Smith on Oct 15, 2008 (Seattle, WA USA)
For a high school graduation gift, I bought my daughter Isabella a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop. My daughter has gotten a lot of use out of her laptop while studying at the university (Harvard). Thank god she has a scholarship.

About a year and a half ago she started having problems with the original Dell brand battery. I called Dell and ask them to replace the battery. Dell's customer service representative asked me to pay $299 plus shipping for a 85 WHr 9-Cell E1505 Inspiron replacement battery. I was a little dismayed to say the least.

So I went on the search for a High Quality replacement laptop battery. I researched for a few days and found this SterlingTek's POWWER Inspiron 1501 85 WHr 9-Cell 7200 mAH Lithium-Ion Battery for Dell Laptop. To be honest I was a little skeptical that this after-market battery could perform as well as all the online reviews said it did. I still was not certain that this was the laptop battery I wanted to buy. So I emailed SterlingTek and asked them about their 1 year warranty. SterlingTek's customer service representative responded to my email within minutes. She told me that the company had a 30 day money back guarantee and a 1 year warranty on all the batteries it sells. I figured I didn't have much to lose.

I went ahead and placed my order on Amazon. To my amazement the Inspiron E1505 laptop battery arrived within 24 hours of the time I placed the order. My daughter came home that weekend to visit and I installed the new replacement battery in her laptop. The laptop battery has worked flawlessly for about one and a half years now.

I would have to say SterlingTek really has it all (Great Prices, Super laptop batteries, amazingly-fast delivery, and fantastic customer service). I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning on buying a laptop battery. SterlingTek is a true credit to the internet retail community.

Sincerely,

A happy and lifelong Customer

Better than Dell battery

(5 out of 5) by Harriet E. Kelly on Nov 25, 2008 (New York)
Much more time on this battery than the one that was included in my Dell Inspiron 1501 computer -- 6 hours, 15 minutes vs. 2 hours, 15 minutes! Very reasonable and fast shipping. Would definitely use this source again for computer needs.
