great case with one design flaw

(4 out of 5) by Ted D. Thornton on Nov 29, 2008 (charleston, wv)
just got two 3g iphones for my son and i. searched for cases. ordered the switcheasy neo and rebel. they are different in several respects. both seem to offer good protection.neo worth the extra $5 if you don't mind the flaw. neo has a seperate rubber sleeve that goes underneath the hard plastic to cover the on-off and volume buttons as well as provide shock absorption. be sure to align the small bottom flap carefully and hold it in place when putting on the hard plastic outer shell.
it comes with two clear screen covers (you'll need both due to dust under on first try)these are nicely and precisely cut to fit size and holes.
once on the case enhances the looks of the phone (covers up the cheap plastic chrome)and has a nice feel.
Loses a star due to design flaw of putting company logo button on back making the phone wobble in all directions when set on a flat surface (they had a great opportunity to make it more stable with flat hard rubber back and messed up).
nice extras...extra screen cover, extra rubber inner shell, adaptor that fits the ihome clock radio (charges while you play), a little stand to set it up to watch movies and cleaning cloth.(helps not to have to order these little 50 cent extras with $4 shipping per item).
overall worth the money ($30 insurance policy as i see it) seriously considering having son trade cases. the rebel has no inner rubber lining but its interlocking hard rubber and hard plastic shells look good and no wobble factor ($5 less).
also son thinks the hard shells extending up around the front of the screen is an impt protective feature of both cases i.e. if set screen down on flat surface the screen is not touching the surface, the rim of the case front elevates the screen by a mm or two.
amazon service seemless as always and mygearstore delivered well

Great Case! Reminds me of the old Pismo G3 Powermac

(4 out of 5) by Chingwongfu on Dec 12, 2008
This case is awesome! The best case I've used to far.
It uses 3 different parts in tandem to create a very solid case for your iPhone 3G; uses a hard & soft case combination approach.

It includes everything you need: extra skin, extra face protector, stand, dock, connector and headphone jack protectors.

The silicon under-sleeve did pinch a little while trying to get the hard components installed, but you just have to wiggle or massage it a little and it'll fall into place. But once all together it is solid feeling. It does add a little bulk to the iPhone, but most cases do.

Coverage is great. If you use the supplied ipod connector and headphone protectors, the only exposed components are: camera lens, vibrate/ring switch, and the 2 bottom speakers!

The design of the case also reminds me of my old Pismo G3 Powermac.

Cons: the Switcheasy logo on the back is raised, so placing the phone on a flat surface results in a slight teetering.

Update: the glossy plastic parts scratch relatively easy.

This case ROCKS!!!

(5 out of 5) by J. Mananquil on Oct 7, 2008 (SF, CA USA)
I've been doing research up the butt for the past 2 weeks on which case to get for my new iPhone 3G. I saw many things from silicone shells to bulky executive covers. I finally narrowed my search to the Switcheasy CapsuleNeo case. This complete package comes with a great screen protector and a silicone sleeve sandwiched by 2 interlocking plastic body covers. This thing adds no perceivable extra width or weight, and it looks cooler than anything I've seen so far. The silicone sleeve might be a little frustrating to put on but once you massage the rubber to get it to align with the holes and openings, everything will snap into place if you're patient enough. I highly recommend this case!

Best Case for the iPhone!

(5 out of 5) by A. Srinath on Jul 19, 2009
When I got an iPhone 3GS, I got the Gel Case sitting on the rack at the AT&T store. Well, there's a reason that thing was so cheap: it's a huge lint magnet! I couldn't take it out of my pocket without having it look like a furry animal. In addition, it was too flexible and did not grip the phone well.

I began researching cases pretty intensely for two weeks. I wanted to make sure the buttons were covered, but still accessible. Some hard cases I saw seemed too thick, or trapped dust inside and scratched the back of the phone. I stumbled on Switcheasy and saw that their cases had good ratings, as well as a combination of hard and soft materials in each case. Their website was solid and provided great details too.

The Rebel looked too flashy for me, as I prefer something more simple and clean-looking. Even though this case is PRICEY, it only adds 2-3 mm of thickness to the phone (I contacted Switcheasy for this). The device it's protecting is worth much more, so a few extra dollars over my budget was deemed to be acceptable.

Some reviews claim it's difficult to install. I thought it was tedious at most, but not arduous. The silicone membrane is easy to put on, and an extra one is provided in case it tears. The two-piece plastic shell is also simple to put on, and it's pretty sweet once everything is assembled. NOTE: I already had a screen protector, so I can't comment on the two that are provided here. Also, make sure to clean the inside of the silicone membrane before you put it on the phone.

There are some port covers provided as well, but the headphone port cover is pretty useless. It comes off really easily, and if you listen to music often, it's a hassle to keep track of it (it's very tiny!). The dock-connector cover is very useful though, and I'd recommend using that.

The only exposed sections of the phone, after installing the screen, are: the silent/ringer switch, the speakers, camera hole, and headphone port. The sleep and volume buttons are easily accessible and have a good tactile feel to them. The matte plastic shell on the back is smooth, and complements the clear plastic flanking it on either side. The latter material does scratch mildly, but it's a case! As long as the iPhone doesn't get scratched, who cares!

There's a little protrusion on the back of the case that causes it to wobble when it's on a flat surface. This is not a huge deal, and can actually assist in playing a game of Spin The iPhone. Overall, this case is worth the money, and I recommend this to anyone!

Good Case, Could Be Better

(3 out of 5) by Chris Rea on May 23, 2009 (Amarillo, TX United States)
For the most part, the SwitchEasy Neo is a sleek, sturdy and tight-fitting case. I have no doubt it will protect my iPhone well. I do have a couple of complaints though. One, the plastic membrane for the touch screen (which I suppose is optional) is very difficult to get on straight, virtually impossible to apply without having air bubbles underneath. It does come with two membranes; the first I ruined peeling off multiple times trying to get it on straight. Two, the raised SwitchEasy logo on the back prevents the iPhone from laying completely flat on a surface without spinning or wobbling when using the touch screen- a very poorly conceived and completely unnecessary part of the design. In fact, the more I use my iPhone like this, the more I wish I'd bought a different case. So, not perfect, but still a decent case.
