Perfect for what I wanted

(4 out of 5) by Dione on Aug 24, 2009
I am traveling out of the country for my job and needed something other than bad tv to listen to in the hotel. This little guy is perfect, it doesn't have much of a bass range but for a portable speaker system it gives plenty of sound in a small package.

Great compact speakers although - high tones are a bit opaque

(4 out of 5) by Juan Estrada Siliezar on Nov 28, 2009 (Miami, FL, USA)
Goods: Convenient to carry, decent sound volume (*although not as good as you may see in other reviews), built in volume control and good sound dispersion, good cable management design *They look good too.
Bads: Bass not much better than some other portable speaker systems (even cheaper ones) like iSymphony iPod W-Speaker and not even close to my old Logitech mm22 Portable Speakers for iPod - Portable speakerswhich are the best sounding portable speakers i own.

Sound Volume is good but not the best. Tested and compared to both speakers above and a couple other older sets I have (Hi-Tex portable speakers and some RadioShack clamshell like portable speakers i can't find online anymore) they all sound louder. Sound didn't show distortion even at the highest volume. I must say the other tested speakers are not as easy to carry as the iLuv though.
Tested all of them with a Sansa e280 mp3 player and while the iLuv speakers provided a little bit more bass than the iSymphony, the high frequency was noticeably less clear and crisp, even while leaning the iLuv so the speakers faced directly to me.
Now, this would be my wishlist for future models: 1. Option to use AC power or at least USB power. 2. an improved power switch (its location and sensitiveness can cause accidentally draining battery power, specially with the soft carry bag.) 2. improve sound clarity.
I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants decent sound but the main issue is portability. If you can handle a slightly bigger package I would suggest the iSymphony with a slightly better overall sound and power adapter. If the main concern is Sound Quality, go for a model with twin speakers like the Logitech mm22 or others. BTW, if you want bass, might be interested in these: X-Mini II Capsule Speaker(which have a rechargeable battery too) or the Altec Lansing iM-237 Orbit Ultraportable Speaker for MP3 Players (Silver)

I finally found it!

(5 out of 5) by J. Regalado on Nov 24, 2009 (Chicago, IL USA)
I have been searching for mini portable speaker that had a jack, but was worried I would end up buying one that had terrible sound quality. The sound quality is awesome and these little guys get pretty loud. The batteries were a bit hard to fit in and the "on" button is easy to accidentally turn on, but that was easy to forgive.

Overall I would recommend to buy this product. Can't get any better then this! Delivery was quick.

It's great, except...

for it's one little fault. And that has been mentioned before. It turns on by itself and runs down the batteries. I have solved that problem by taking the batteries out when I am traveling, but that is a pain in the neck! I considered returning it, but I didn't want to be without it. It needs to redesigned with an on/off switch or slider, and then it would be perfect.

Great Speakers for the Price

(4 out of 5) by Greg Bulmash on Dec 2, 2009 (Lynnwood, WA United States)
CONS:

The reviewer who praised the bass on these speakers either got another set or is easily impressed. I've seen small speakers give much better bass response, but they were pretty expensive. The bass on these speakers is merely passable. It's enough so that you're not annoyed by its lack, but *far* from impressive.

I'd prefer if it used AA batteries instead of AAA. This is just a personal preference because I've got lots of rechargeable AA batteries, but no AAA. So few of my household electronics run on AAA anymore, it sort of makes this unit the odd man out.

PROS:

The sound is clear and I can get both it and my phone up to max volume without distortion. Being that it's a phone driving a palm-sized speaker, the sound won't rattle the room, but it's good enough to be heard throughout the room.

I've got two small kids and I got this so I could have an easy music source for us to listen/bounce to in any room of the house or out at a park. It's a breeze to plug in and get going and we've had lots of fun with it so far. It's a great way to get us all up and moving on a rainy day.
