This is a great value and a great camera, I am using it in Iraq and have not had any problems at all in fact it has preformed exceptionaly well.

I did a lot of research before I purchased this camera. I found this kit through Amazon. I was surprised at the price offered through Cameta Camera. I had not used an SLR for awhile since I put away my Olympus OM-1. Most recently I have been using Canon point and shoot cameras. I found this camera easy to pick up and use once I read the documentation. I found several helpful reviews for the e-520 on the web, too.

My first major trip with the camera was to the inauguration. Unfortunately, the longer zoom was backordered (I have since received it). So I could only use the standard kit zoom. I was quite pleased with the camera operation both in automatic mode and in manual mode. I was able to manipulate the controls well even in the cold weather on that day.

I was quite pleased with the pictures that I took that day. I got several good shots from our location on the National Mall (we didn't have tickets). Once I got the basic understandings of the controls and the superscreen figured out (before I went on my trip), I appreciated the control that I had with the camera. For some shots I did use the live view. I was able to use the live view even in the full sunlight during the inauguration.

This is a great camera. I am enjoying taking pictures. I highly recommend this camera.
