Great Adapter
Settup is easy..Run cd rom and(If you run Windows). After install, click on choose microsoft to run your wireless (in your system tray)..If your wireless is secured, just configure your laptop to run on your wireless network system using the wireless setup wizzard..Have your network name and key in mind in order to connect securely..
I was online in 10 mins using this Medialink adapter and the belkin g-mimo router(GREAT BELKIN ROUTER..by the way).

does not work
I have two wireless signals in my house and recently set up my iMac and my dell laptop to them with no problems. Tried this for a desk-top PC and it picks up both signals then drops them randomly. The signals in the room are high. I am sending it back and will update on how that process goes. Pretty dissapointed that the product didn't work though.

BUNK !
When I bought this, there were all these reviews about how it could pick up a signal from so far away, was so fast, blah blah blah. Sounded too good to be true. Turns it is. Everything was easy and good, up until actually using it. Installed on Win XP SP3, had such a weak signal. The router in question was an Airport Extreme b/g/N. Couldn't connect, low strength, etc. Not worth it. Used on a desktop. I suppose this could be really useful if you have a net/notebook and can get very close to the access point. You'll have to try that out for yourself.

DONT BUY A MEDIALINK ADAPTER!
DONT BUY A MEDIALINK ADAPTER!
I have new laptops that run on windows xp pro sp3 and vista home premium sp2. I bought this thinking i could go online in nyc where there are numerous hotspots. Boy was i disappointed!
I tried at home, in the cafe, library, and even in school. This adapter doesnt even connect to my technology school's wireless network (Polytechnic University), and I am inside the university (right next to the hub and router). Yet all the other students' laptops' built in wireless cards have no problem anywhere in the school. How sad!
The device has pathetic range and dbi rating. I checked the manufacturer's specs and they are lies!
it doesn't even have an rp-sma connector to add an antenna.
This "Medialink - Wireless G USB Adapter - 802.11g - 54Mbps - Windows 2000 / XP / Vista 32-Bit / Vista 64-Bit Compatible" adapter is terrible! I plan to return it or get an exchange.
I'll NEVER buy another medialink item again!
I decided to buy an Alfa 802.11 b/g 1000 mw alfa adapter for $40 + $10 shipping instead. No regrets about the alfa ever since! Alfa ROCKS! You should buy this Alfa model too, or when a newer (better) item arrives by alfa get that!
Im waiting for a newer or better model by alfa. Until then this alfa 1w adapter will have to be king.
So, DON'T BUY A MEDIALINK ADAPTER. YOULL REGRET IT SOONER OR LATER. BUY ALFA PRODUCTS INSTEAD. THEY ARE among the top BRANDS. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID BY TRYING OUT THE MEDIALINK. Theyre garbage
