Terrific Desktop Mouse

(5 out of 5) by D. Bezboruah on Dec 6, 2009 (Irvine, CA United States)
I bought this mouse for my work PC. I already have the MX Revolution at home, so I thought this mouse would be very similar. Turns out the MX1100 is quite different from the Revolution, in that it is a bigger mouse (which gives it a better grip, though), has a different button layout, and is not rechargeable. I really like the hidden thumb button (for application switching) as well as the dpi buttons (which I reprogrammed to perform cut & paste instead). The application switcher software is really cool, as it is pretty much like the one found on Macs where all your open windows appear on the screen. The battery is supposed to last 9 months, the software even counts down the number of days left in the battery life. The only complaints to make are that unlike the Revolution, the wheel on the 1100 does not automatically switch between free-scroll and "geared" scrolling. You have to manually press a button to do the switch over, which is a tad annoying as that is a feature I use heavily. Also the MX1100 feels cheap. The plastic feels cheaper than that used in the Revolution, plus the scroll wheel is also plastic now. It isn't as solid feeling as past Logitech mice, so that troubles me. Overall, this is a great buy.

Logitech MX1100--kudos

(5 out of 5) by Erin, New York City on Dec 5, 2009 (New York, NY USA)
I had an MX700 before this, which had rechargeable batteries, and a charging stand. Good-bye to all that with the 1100, which uses regular AA batteries and can be turned off when not in use to save on batteries. I cannot live without the side buttons that make Web pages go back or forward. And the scrolling device is marvelous. It is a relief to get rid of the charging stand for the old mouse, which worked fine for a few years... Hope this one lasts longer.

Great always present mouse, smooth, good quality.

Love this mouse, Ive only used regular wired mice before .. was waiting to find a good mouse. Once you load driver and reboot, nothing to sync each time it loses signal like most wireless keyboards and or mice, its always there. The feel in my hand is great, it is more percise, love the extra buttons and do use them. Pushing the scroll down then scrolling enlarges or shrinks image/screen .. a very useful tool. No more cords, I just so dislike cords .. I think the world should be wireless. By now, I thought intelligent voice commands would be the norm on all electroics and otherwise. The technology has been out there for some time. Anyway, got this cool mouse on Black Friday for 19.99 .. so that makes it even sweeter. Black friday, what a name... Still worth the 50. they are typically going for though.

Great for gaming, very comfortable in hand!

I can't believe how comfortable this mouse is! I spend a lot of time on the computer playing games (mainly MMO's) and the amount of buttons is wonderful (can never have enough in those games.) I also love the little battery icon that displays on the mouse when you turn it on! And sadly, they're right about the scroll wheel, I'm already missing it on our other computer. Very, very nice mouse. No complaints here!

DOA

(1 out of 5) by S. Karnes on Dec 4, 2009
Got the mouse put the batteries in turned it on and green light on top lite up for about 5 seconds then turned off. Called tech support got an off shore sounding person reading off a script who verified the software/driver was installed and said to return to vendor. Didnt check the box but most likely another China product failure. I know its a numbers game when buying this stuff so hopefully the next 100 of you who buy this wont have a problem.
