Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse

(5 out of 5) by Ghost Crab on Dec 7, 2008 (NY)
I'm using it with a new Apple i-Mac and it worked perfectly out of the box. Much better than the Apple Might Mouse or MS Mice

amazing

(5 out of 5) by David Goldman on Oct 3, 2008
i recently got this mouse after using the mx1000 for a few years. i have a hard time looking for mine because i need at least 10 buttons, and i only buy logitech. this thing is fantastic. it fits my hand like no other, and all the buttons are perfect. they don't require much pressure to press them, which might take some getting used to, but it's nice. the hidden button is great, i want to keep pressing it. the ridge that holds the ring finger is perfectly placed. imagine holding your hand in a comfortable position with nothing under it- thats what this feels like, but with a mouse there. it is a little bigger than other mice, but i like that. and i like that it uses AA batteries. towards the end of the life of my mx1000, the contacts were getting bad and the battery started running out, and it was a pain to charge. overall this is an amazing mouse, and i'd buy another in a heartbeat if i needed another.

Great mouse. Would love it a little bigger.

(5 out of 5) by Price Guard on Oct 1, 2008 (NYC)
After the MX620's release, I was awaiting for a mouse that is physically bigger with the same great flywheel and it arrived in the form of the MX1100. I wish it were even bigger.

Awesome Portable Wireless Laser Mouse

(5 out of 5) by Cynthia Sue Larson on Oct 29, 2008 (San Francisco bay area, CA USA)
The Logitech MX Cordless Laser Mouse is just about the most ergonomic, fully-featured mouse anyone could wish for, as it combines superb styling with comfortable fit and easy functionality. I've been a huge fan of Logitech laser mice, and what this MX 1100 offers that many other mice don't is a marvelous thumb button on the left side of the mouse which immediately displays open windows. It's now a snap to get an overview bird's eye view of all open windows, and then with another push of the thumb button, get back focused on one particular window again.

The extraordinary ergonomics of the Logitech MX 1100 makes most other mice (except other Logitech mice) seem obsolete, as one can smoothly scroll through pages at lightning speed with the MX 1100. This is one of those products that you just about have to see and use in order to fully appreciate what a difference it makes... as it's almost impossible to adequately explain just what, exactly, an excellent mouse that fits one's hand and zooms around the screen as well as the Logitech MX 1100 can do.

The important thing to note about this particular Logitech MX 1100 mouse is that unlike some other Logitech mice, this one's batteries require changing (rather than setting the mouse in a charging station stand). The good news is that the two AA batteries can be rechargeable batteries, if you wish to have your own AA rechargeable station, so you can essentially have the same kind of recharging with the MX 1100 that you'd have with other models.

The Logitech MX 1100 mouse measures 9 cm wide by 12.5 cm long, and is about 4.5 cm high... which is just a bit wider (one cm wider) and a bit higher (.5 cm higher) than previous Logitech mice. This is a very comfortable mouse for someone with slightly long fingers or big hands.

The scroll wheel on the MX 1100 feels very smooth, just as previous Logitech mice have proven to be for me, and seems to be the kind of mouse which will not get clogged up with dirt and debris like other brands of mice do.

I highly recommend the Logitech MX 1100 mouse!

Hyper scroll and stealth thumb button worth the cost alone

(5 out of 5) by Lincoln J. Mennuti on Oct 24, 2008 (New York, NY United States)
Let's get right to the details...

^++ Pros ++^
++> Hyper-Fast Scroll wheel absolutely lives up to the hype. Want to go back to regular detented scrolling? No problem, just press the button that's just under the wheel and it kicks the ratcheting back in gear.
++> "Stealth" thumb button as application-switcher is incredibly handy. Where Alt-Tab allows you to switch to other apps with each successive click of Tab, the app-switcher is actually a mini-window (not unlike the right-click context menu) that pops up wherever your mouse is, with an auto-sized window that clearly let's you see what apps are running and you just click on the one you want. For anyone that always has a bunch of apps running and has to switch between them, this feature is something you're going to love right away.
++> Very comfortable to hold and use. Ergonomics are well done, no special double-jointed, finger-contortionism required to get at any of the buttons.
++> Also worth noting about the Ergonomics; The scroll wheel is raised high enough that you can get a sure left/right click for scrolling. Where other mice might give you the side-scrolling capabilities, they don't always think it through by raising the scroll wheel high enough that you can actually use it.
++> Replaceable glide feet. These are the pads on the bottom of the mouse that allows it to glide around smoothly. I've never actually even thought about doing such a thing, but now knowing the option is there, it's reassuring.
++> Uses 2 x AA batteries (included). LiOn batteries and such are nice, except when you have to deal with either a special charging bay for the whole mouse, or having to swap the battery out with another special one, or worse yet something goes wrong and you need a new battery and have no choice but to buy their proprietary brand. AAs are nice and easy to deal with, cheap and they're ubiquitous.
++> Supposedly incredibly long battery life (rated at 9 months, or even longer if you utilize the on/off button) . This is my 2nd day using this mouse (with the supplied 2xAA Duracell Alkalines) and the software battery indicator says there's 282 days left before needing to replace the batteries!
++> Fully programmable buttons. There's the standard options (like Page Up/Down and Back/Forward), but the software also offers Keystroke Assignments like Ctrl-LeftArrow and Ctrl-RightArrow for the side-scrolling (if you like jumping from word to word).
++> Easily switchable DPI setting. As high as 1,600 and as low as 400 (in 200dpi increments) via the +/- buttons next to the left-click button.
++> Solid, reliable wireless performance (thusfar).

^-- Cons --^
--> Only 8 programmable buttons, NOT 10. The Amazon Technical Details says this mouse has 10 programmable buttons, but the SetPoint software actually doesn't allow you to reprogram the Left or Right mouse buttons. To be fair though, none of the Logitech literature or website makes this claim, so it seems it's Amazon's faux pas.
--> There's no DPI indicator on the mouse to let you know what DPI setting the mouse is on. Since there's only 2 settings you can switch between anyway (the DPI setting on the + button and the DPI setting on the - button), it's actually not a big deal.

I'm a Web/Tech/Gadget junky; At work I have 3 monitors and at home I have 2.. At any given time I've got at least 3 sessions of Firefox open (each with at least 3 to 6 Tabs to different sites) and a whole bunch of other apps open as well. If I could convert how much scrolling I've done to airline miles, my family and I could take a couple of nice vacations. As well, switching between all those apps all the time gets tedious.

Now I actually look forward to laying the hyper-scrolling smack down on those lonnnnng pages and pages of web content!...Take that Google Reader! Gone too is the guesswork of Alt-Tabbing through a bunch of icons hoping to get to what I want, now it's just a thumb-click and choose what I want from an auto-sized menu that shows me the full name of the available apps.

Highly recommended
