Not great for gaming

(2 out of 5) by R. Case on Aug 30, 2009
Overall it's an okay mouse. Has tons of features and the batteries rarely need to be changed. Unfortunately the sensitivity settings are out of wack. It is very difficult to get the sensitivity set right for gaming. You basically have to choose from "slower than molasses in January" or "Mach 3." I'll use this on my office machine and go find me a good optical mouse for my gaming machine.

New Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse

(5 out of 5) by Frank H. Fowler on Jun 30, 2009 (Lehigh Acres, FL United States)
I purchased this mouse a week ago. I love it & find it the best mouse I've ever used. For the past year I've been using a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. Not a bad mouse, just not as good as the Logitech MX1100. Prior to purchasing, I was a little concerned about the reviews claiming the mouse was a little large. I have a small hand for a male. I find the MX 1100 to be a perfectly comfortable fit. I think all the features it has to be great, albeit it took me a few days to get use to them. But that's probably because I'm a Dinosaur. I highly recommend this mouse.

Great mouse for programmers

(5 out of 5) by Richard P. Banghart on Apr 7, 2009
I bought the MX1100 mouse to replace my MX1000. I was very happy with the MX1000 until the battery began to fail, holding a good charge for only a few hours. I contacted Logitech support and found out that the battery was not replaceable. While I was disappointed that a replacement battery was not available, I was pleased with the conversation I was able to have with Logitech support about a possible replacement mouse. I explained what I liked about the MX1000 and how I used the programmable buttons. The support person recommended the MX1100. We must have spoken for 15 or 20 minutes.

I work as a programmer. The MX1100 mouse allows me to assign common tasks to its eight programmable buttons (actually, 10 buttons, but I don't count the left and right buttons). I push the wheel to the left to copy, I use another button to paste. I push the wheel down to save. One button is assigned as Undo. There's a "hidden" button under where the thumb rests, and that works for me as a task switcher. The software that comes with the mouse makes assigning these buttons easy. I haven't used the feature yet, but you can also program the mouse to behave differently for different applications.

One feature I hadn't expected to use so much is the free turning wheel. There is a push button immediately behind the wheel that changes the wheel from having a detent action, to having a free turning action. The wheel is weighted so that you can give it a push and it keeps turning. I work on programs with more than 10,000 lines of code and this allows me to scroll very quickly through thousands of lines of code.

This mouse uses a pair of AA batteries, so I don't have to worry about a rechargeable battery going bad. I've been using the mouse for two months (averaging at least 8 hours a day) and the batteries are still going strong.

Mac user here

Big in your hands, so if you wear a size medium in gloves, this may not fit.

Connecting to my 8-core was simple. Works well. Fast. Smooth.

It's the shape that kinda bothers me. Unless you point your mouse straight forward, the orientation of the curvy design is a little off.

I would recommend you try this in a store before buying online.

Best mouse ever!!

(5 out of 5) by John Kenney on Dec 24, 2008 (Boston, MA)
Love, love this mouse!!

In recent months, I've been working on my computer almost constantly - and I have tried about 6-8 mice to find one that really fits my hand and is easy to use for long periods.

This is THE ONE!!

I previously had been using the MX Revolution for several months - and before that the Logitech G7, the Logitech VX Nano cordless, a couple Microsoft mice, etc.

The MX Revolution is a great mouse, too, but from the outset, it never fit my hand that great - I think you need like an abnormally long thumb or something for it to feel right. And the VX Nano is too small for continuous daily use (unless maybe if you have really small hands). But both these mice are just super high quality devices - the speed wheel and the smoothness of the buttons, etc. are fantastic. Lots of customization options (though I'm not a big user of these).

But my hand's been aching of late using the MX Revolution, so I thought I'd take another look at the Logitech lineup to see if anything new to try.

So now I've got the MX 1100 and it is a TOTAL WINNER. This one has the great speed wheel and the smooth buttons. I can't really comment on the customization options since I don't really use them - but they look easy to use and so on.

But perhaps the most important thing is that it really fits my hand well. Since I have reasonably normal sized hands, I expect it would fit most people's hands well, too. The ergonomic improvement over the MX Revolution is instantly obvious the second you put your hand on it - the shape is just right and it simply feels more comfortable

I also really like that this one runs on batteries. I found the MX Revolution recharging a real pain cause it was always dying when you needed it most. I ended up keeping 2 mice around at all times so I'd have something to use while the Revolution was recharging.

Overall, this is a well designed, superstar product! It's a bit pricey, but well worth the money for most any computer user - whether you're a poweruser, a regular office worker, or anybody else who spends a few hours a day on a computer.
