Love it Does Exacly What it Promises~So MUCH FUN~~~

I always loved listening to the short wave radio at night with my Dad. We would tune into countries all over Europe. Well this is 1000 times better I plugged it in and within 30 seconds I was roaming the world. Crisp clear wonderful sound, no static. No turning a knob trying to get it tuned in clear, it's clear from the start. I am going to so enjoy this. You can be online or email working and still be listening.

This is a great item and would make a wonderful gift to just about anyone. It lets you mark your favorites so you can go back easily.

I'm so glad it came up as a lightening deal I had no idea such an item existed! You will not be sorry if you buy this.

Listen to overseas stations at home, and home stations overseas

(5 out of 5) by Shevi on Sep 12, 2008 (NJ, USA)
I was feeling nostalgic, remembering listening to BBC radio dramas when I was in college in Europe. I've tried to find them online with no luck.

Then I bought this tiny gadget.

I plugged it into my computer's USB port, and it's like going back in time. It works just fine on my computer running Windows XP. I can listen to radio dramas from the UK, music from Virgin Radio, Celtic stations from Ireland, and other favorites from around the world. I can also explore stations I've never heard of from pretty much every country on the globe.

Mind you, this device isn't perfect. It can take a few seconds for a radio station to start, sometimes you'll find a dead link, sometimes the sound drops a bit, though usually not much and certainly not as much as any other form of radio streaming I've found. Despite the drawbacks, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is missing a favorite radio station from another country. There's no reason to feel homesick anymore.

Likewise, if you're traveling with your laptop and you like to listen to American radio, you should probably take this with you. I've been in countries where I've had the hardest time finding anything on the radio I liked. With this device and a laptop with an Internet connection, you can take this comfort from home anywhere you go.

Amazing!

I have never been so amazed at the sounds of different music from around the world. So many channels to pick from and no monthly charges. I installed it on Vista and installation was pretty easy - just make sure you turn off your firewall to allow Aluratek to have internet access or add it to your trusted sites. This is a great gift for someone who travels around the world and wants to stay current and up to date with "home" news since there are thousands of talk radio stations as well. It has locked up on me a few times but I can't complain since it is getting information from across the world. This does not happen all the time just during certain times of the day. Figured it is probably due to the radio's internet server being overloaded at a busy time.

Internet Radio, Sometimes

(2 out of 5) by NITEMARE on Nov 11, 2008
This is a neat little gadget but, it's frustrating to use at times. It installed OK and worked very well (the first time.) Now, every time I want to use it I have to figure out some new way of getting it started.

There are NO instructions of any kind so you're on your own and, once installed, I still have not figured out how to get it to tune the entire spectrum of stations. It displays a few stations when it opens and I still can't figure out how to get to other stations that it has but is not displaying.

It looks like a neat little gift idea but you are buying a bit of frustration.

Waste of money ! Does not update itself or let you update it !

This USB Jukebox is a waste of money. First of all, all these stations are free on the internet so you can just go to their pages and play them. You can also add station to most of the software players out there. All that this product does is to have a list with many stations.

Besides the fact that it just provides something that is available for free, the most important drawback of this is that if the radio changes the URL (address) and sometimes they do the jukebox doesn't work anymore !
How stupid is that? Make a device that is just a glorified list of radio stations, and not update it every time it connects to the Aluratek server ???????
The stations I was interested in changed their addresses and now this USB jukebox is just junk!

Stay away and save your money.
