Although I've been through plenty of cameras over the years - ranging from 35mm SLR's and APS to digital - I'm far from an expert and more of an intermediate hobbyist. My current need was a digital camera that was small and light (something I could put in my shirt pocket or throw in a briefcase) to document images when the need arose. After much research and review, I finally decided on the Sony DSC-T77 - and it meets my needs spectacularly. Besides making decent photos, it is rather intuitive and easy to use. I was particularly drawn to the bold and beefy lens cover and the fact that the telescoping, although limited in range, is all internal to the camera. Other cameras I compared the Sony to have delicate-looking lens-cover leaves and the telescoping lenses protruded like a bad zit on prom night (both of which would seem more prone to damage and malfunction). The touch screen responds well to my normal fingers.
I've read mixed reviews on this camera - the bad ones seems to want this camera to be more than it is. It is not a DSLR - nor will it ever be. So far, I am delighted with this camera. It is not perfect - but it is perfect for me.

Small and smart camera
I bought this for my mother for Christmas and she loves it. It is so small so fit even in the evening purse. It is also very smart - detects smiling faces and take pictures itself!!!
And the touchscreen ( witch I wasn't a big fan off) turned out to be a very cool future.

Request for my father
Excellent product, good quality and good price. I bought the package of cover + camera + card. Request if very fast. The shipment of cover & camera was more than the cost of each product, but was needed very fast. The camera is excellent, but the other accesories total cost not good.

Just Ok Camera - Non-Professional & New User Review
I purchased this camera a few weeks ago and have only used it on one occasion. The initial results were disappointing considering the price point for this camera.
Pros:
- The T77 is very stylish and compact.
- It is definitely an attention getter.
- The touch screen seems to work well.
- The camera seems to be well made.
- It has a 4x zoom as opposed to 3x on most other point & shoot cameras.
Cons:
- I have only taken 13 photos, inside and not under the best lighting conditions. Every person in all the photos had red-eye which I was able to remove using my photo editing\management software.
- The pictures did not look natural. My guess is the T77 needs good light. I have a Kodak 5.1 mp camera and the photos are much more natural looking under varying light conditions.
- The battery life is not all that great. The manual says to turn off the camera frequently as opposed to leaving it on. This is good advice. It definitely helps prolong the otherwise somewhat short battery life. I would definitely recommend getting a second battery.
Conclusion:
Please note that I have used the camera on one occassion. I am still learning to use the camera. Perhaps if I had more experience with the camera I can get better results. Overall my initial assessment is that this is probably not the best value for the money, but it certainly is okay.

everything we need
This is used by my constuction superintendent. I has all we need. We take about 15 to 30 construcion photos a day per camara x 3 camaras. The photos download easy and since the camara size fits in slacks or jeans pockets we always have them with us.
