Plug N' Play Perfection

(5 out of 5) by K. Ryan on Feb 2, 2009 (Madison, MS USA)
I plugged the Micro Innovations Bluetooth Adapter into my USB port and Microsoft Vista instantly recognized the device and in seconds it was ready to use. Now that's the way Plug N' Play was supposed to work. I've owned other brands of Bluetooth USB adapters and the adapters I owned required the manufacturer driver and I incurred problems. If you want a trouble free USB Bluetooth device with a 33 foot range, I recommend this device.

Quite Simply The Best Bluetooth USB Adapter

(5 out of 5) by Ankur Akolia on Oct 23, 2008 (Los Angeles, CA)
This gadget is simply Awesome to say the least. Bought it at Fry's electronics for $19.99. i was surprised that it did not come with a CD for the driver install but none was required. Believe me when i say this and I'm not exaggerating, but after plugging in the device in an available USB port of my Desktop Computer, it took 2 seconds for the self install to complete and i saw the bluetooth icon in the lower right corner next to the time almost immediately. i was amazed that this little Gizmo did not need a driver installation and it identified any and all bluetooth devices within a tested range of 10ft although of course the actual range may be a lot more than that.

It took me less than 1 minute to pair a second bluetooth enabled desktop computer and 2 Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones. Both of my computers are running Microsoft XP Media Center Edition SP2 and have been purchased within the last 3 years. i was able to successfully connect a Sony Ericsson W810i and transfer pictures and videos at 40kb per second quite easily. i was also able to transfer MP3's between my g/f's K550i and the desktop. During Setup, it asks to enter a passkey for security which is supposed to be between 8 and 16 characters long, so i chose to enter my cellphone number and the rest was a breeze. For the price and the size, this was the best bargain i made this month and will recommend it to friends also.

Plug n' Play, what a concept!!!!!

OK, nothing was ever this easy. I didn't order bluetooth from Dell for my laptop because of the cost and no real need at the time. Since getting my first smartphone, I really wanted to sync wirelessly rather than having to pull out a cable every time. I bought this because of the price and great reviews, although I doubted it would be that easy. When it arrived I was first struck by how incredibly tiny this thing is. I keep it plugged into one of my USB ports all the time and don't even know it's there. So anyway, I plug it in and Vista installed the drivers right away and that was that. I paired up my phone in no time, and now my phone sits across the room in it's charging station and syncs with my PC effortlessly (and the data transfer speed is excellent). I love this little thing!

Yet to get it to work with XP

I bought this dongle based on the glowing reviews and the immediate connectivity. When I opened up the package, it said I needed to download the software to connect audio listening devices if I have XP. The micro -innovations site isn't exactly user-friendly, but I did find the site with the drivers. Now of course, the link with the drivers will not load. It is quite an aggravating experience.

Great product!

Just received and installed it. Plug and play, as advertised. Linked to my Microsoft mouse without a hitch. I use a desktop, so the range is about 4 feet or so. No dropouts or need to reconnect. If I used a laptop, depending on the location of the USB ports I would be annoyed with the blue connection LED, which flashes incessantly. However, judiciously placed tape will fix this feature.
