Be Careful!

(5 out of 5) by D. Wortham on Oct 18, 2008 (TX)
Be careful! Why? Well... you may not be able to play older games with this card haha.

Really though, I was playing Painkiller Black Edition and upgraded to this card (from two 2600 crossfired cards) and now I can't play the game because all the monsters are wicked fast lol.

Other things to know:

The card is hot hot hot. I thought that was just the x2 version with two gpu's but the single version seems to run at about the same temp - around 70c wow!

The card is huge in length. I have a mid tower (brand new Cooler Master 690 No P/s) and it fit with very little room to spare. If your case is on the smallish side you may want to take measurements and look at what power connections, ide or sata connections, or power cables might be in the way.
This card requires two power connections.

You really will need good air flow in your case or water cooling with this card. The ambient temps in my case (according to Everest Ultimate) runs around 32c. My old case ran about 10 degrees hotter around 45c. As hot as this card is I don't think it would have worked very well in my old case. Something to consider.

As far as performance of the card ... it performs as a top tier card should. I don't have anything to stress it with at the moment but there are plenty of reviews available on the internet that thoroughly detail the technical side. I couldn't compete with that so I won't try.

I highly recommend the CM690 by the way. Great looking case and very well designed too.

nice graphics, not stable on my system

(3 out of 5) by MattM on Jan 30, 2009 (Sacramento, ca United States)
I purchased this card for a intel core 2 quad 2.66 system based on a an intel DX38BT motherboard. The card itself blew through recent games (crysis, world of warhammer, call of duty 5) with all effects turned up etc. I also didn't notice any loud noise from the system although this is totally subjective... It looked great and ran games good, but the thing crashed my system like crazy. I previously had a radeon 2600 pro as my graphic card which ran fine. I upgraded my power supply from a antec 480 to another antec 550, upon reading ATI's recommendations. The thing still caused my system to crash all the time like 2 times a day on Vista 32. Returned the card to amazon was the easiest experience of any of my online shopping purchases. Was refunded in a week and very happy even though the card didn't work. I will continue to buy hardware on amazon as their return policy is a million times better then any other online hardware vendors (newegg, compusa, etc)

Excelente VGA

(5 out of 5) by Castillo Barrera Marvin Franci on Oct 31, 2008 (Guatemala)

Incredible

Worth every penny. I do use this for gaming but not nearly as much as I do to utilize HTPC functions. I really recommend this card.
