I was debating between strobes or constant light. I eventually chose this, because I have so many small kids, I'm learning lighting, and they don't sit still. This allows me to have the lights set up, and snap a ton of shots hoping for a good one.

The stands are sturdy enough, but you may want to add a light weight to them, as they can get knocked over easy. The umbrella's work well, however, I may be replacing them with bigger umbrellas. The bulbs are as described, and work well, and I can get good white balance off them. I would, maybe, opt for brighter bulbs in the future.

In all, this is a great setup, especially for those on a budget looking for continuous lighting. I would recommend this setup to anyone getting started in the photography world, or needing an inexpensive lighting solution.

I've typically enjoyed outdoor and/or macro photography but occassionally want to do a bit in a studio type setting. Unfortunately, the price tag of setting up a studio for sporadic use didn't justify the expense - until now. Shopping around on Amazon has allowed me to build a decent starter studio set for a fraction of the cost it would have required just years ago. This set is a prime example; the seller shipped almost immediately and the complete package arrived in good order. Nothing broken, complete and ready to go. Set-up and assembly is very easy and intuitive. This is a light duty set, comes complete with a carry case, 8 bulbs [28 watts each], 2 stands, 2 umbrellas [one silver and one white], nice long power supply cords and the actual socket set. Light is a pleasing continuous supply perfect for a small studio or even other supplemental light. Stands extend and lock into place easily. With Amazon prime shipping was free so for $65 each...including shipping and bulbs...this was a no-brainer buy. Great starter set that is easy to set up and take with me. Will work as nice supplementals when move up to a more expensive set, Fast sellers, good price, nice starter set...overall very pleased.

you may want to go with a bit higher wattage
luckily enough you can mix and much different bulbs on this 4 socket bulb holder
I removed those and I bought the flash shoe universal umbrella and stand mounts for 15 bucks to transform this setup to be used with vivitar and pentax flashes
effective length and diameter of umbrellas is good enough for most uses
over all great value
it's better to use the daylight fluorescents as fillers for video shoots behind a softbox
