Like others said, better TV than monitor.

(4 out of 5) by The Dude on Apr 6, 2009 (Northeastern USA)
Here's a quick list of pros and cons.

Pros:
- Color is very vibrant and rich
- Brightness is amazing and very adjustable
- Great response time
- HDTV picture quality is top notch
- Dynamic contrast feature, which adjusts the brightness of the monitor according to the brightness of what appears on the screen, is great.
- You can change the setting for just about anything you'd want to adjust.
- Has a ton of inputs.

Cons:
- Very wobbly stand. If you have a flimsy desk, you're not gonna have fun with this monitor when you're typing.
- No VESA monitor mount on the back, so you're stuck with the craptastic wobbly stand.
- Can't adjust the height of the monitor.
- Vertical swivel doesn't swivel far enough forward. If your couch is lower than your TV stand, the viewing angle is no good. Top of the screen is very dark.
- Speakers are on par with a transistor radio. Horrible.
- No RCA out, only optical audio out in the back (who uses that?!) and a 3.5mm stereo out jack on the side, which is annoying (wires sticking out the side of TV).
- No picture-in-picture.
- The clear acrylic bezel around the monitor is a DUST MAGNET. I have to clean it off every day.

Out of all the cons the only two that really bother me are the dusty bezel and the wobbly stand/lack of VESA mounts. I bought a right angle 3.5mm stereo jack so I can hide the audio cable behind the monitor, although it would be nice if they put some RCA audio out on the back. I think they might be able to include picture-in-picture via a firmware update. Only time will tell.

Good value, but lots of little problems

(3 out of 5) by Peter Pauly on Apr 14, 2009 (Indiana, USA)
I bought this unit because it was a good value for the money. It has a built in HD tuner and lots of different inputs, including 2 HDMI ports.

The problems (some of these are going to sound like nits, but they severely affect the usefulness of the product):

1. The bezel surrounding the active part of the LCD has a very shiny beveled edge on it which makes everything close to the edge of the screen appear to have a mirrored duplicate.

2. The unit has 2 HDMI ports, but one of them is on the side behind a closed door.

3. The headphone hack is behind a closed door. Why not get rid of the door?

4. The power light shines when the unit is on and is extinguished when the unit is off. It should work opposite of this so it doesn't distract from the viewing.

5. The monitor isn't very good at dealing with multiple resolutions. Some of the PC content is off the screen.

6. The monitor always stretches the image. It is not possible to display lower resolutions 1:1, non-stretched.

7. The stand is slick on the bottom so when you push the power button, the whole monitor pivots on the table. Overall, the stand is a joke. The monitor can only be tilted back slightly, that's all.

8. No composite inputs (I knew this going in). These would be nice to connect older gaming systems that can't do component or HDMI.

9. Speakers are weak. They don't put out enough volume except for very quiet environments (like a bedroom).

10. The tuner does a lousy job of displaying HDTV accurately. I have a DVICO PCI card that blows this out of the water.

11. Gradient banding is noticeable because of the LCD type.

I'm only giving it a three because I think the monitor is inexpensive, otherwise I would have rated it lower.

CAUTION with ReCertified Remanufactured Refurbished

(1 out of 5) by T. Marshall on Jan 19, 2009 (New York, NY USA)
Remote was NOT included in my purchase. (also no CD or manual) Samsung and vendor refused to fix this problem. it is NOT useable as a TV without the Remote. Therefore be careful, do NOT purchase for use as a TV if you are buying recertified / refurbished
UPDATE:
I have received 2 remotes in the mail after complaining for a month to both Samsung and the seller. It is necessary to elevate the complaint. Now I can buy another TV (refurb of course) because it is a good TV except for the lack of audio headphone jacks (only the fiber digital audio out!) and poor bass response. Also I'm not sure if the widescreen videos can be made to fill the screen.

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

(1 out of 5) by E. Berls on Jan 29, 2009
Nice picture quality, very mediocre sound but and mid to low volumes there is a distinct background buzz eminating from the display. You buzz so you must go back. I don't know why I keep trying Samsung TVs, if its not one thing it something else, dont ask me about my other Big Samsung HDTV. Perhaps this time I will learn.
