Most Helpful First | Newest First | + ShareGreat but a few flaws
Screen / Nav
Is the best part. My Friend bought a Honda Civic SI and paid $2200 for the navigation deck. His $2200 doesn't look as colorful or as nice as this. The 3D view is great. I have made 3 road trips last month (main reason I bought this unit) and after the first one I stopped printing out directions from Google. finding parks, restaurants and tourist attractions is easy. The only gripe is that you have to be in park in order to enter an address. Can be fixed with a hack. Will be working on that.
Sound:
No complaints. Sounds good.
iPod:
Works good. Now and then i have to reboot due to locking up. Album art is not great but it is better than nothing. The touch wheel works good.
Radio
Is better than my Ford Factory sound quality. I don't know why but the sound comes in better. More presets and has HD, that I don't use... But it is there.
DVD:
Can't use while driving, but I will work on hacking that later. Movies looks good. It does what it says it does. CD's play fine as well.
MSN:
Not impressed, but it did help slightly when coming back from a road trip and an accident would have delayed the trip at least hour and a half. I was redirected and it was only a 30 min delay.
Bluetooth:
Overall it works good. The only real complaint is that sometimes after a call the screen freezes. This is annoying. I have to reset. That is a pain in the butt. In only happens now and then, but when it does happen, it is frustrating.
Boot-up
Now the Bad. Takes 30 seconds to boot up the nav and iPod. The bluetooth takes 60 seconds. And sometimes the system freezes, and then yo have to reset and then the boot up you have to wait for again.
SD Card
The system seams to freeze up more when the SD card. The card functions work good, but I would just keep the card out unless you need it. The freezing is not worth it.

It freezes constantly... Even with firmware 2.0
If you like it when your computer freezes or reboots without warning... You will love this head unit. If you like getting lost while using GPS... You will love this head unit. If you like waiting for your radio to work when you get in your car, sometimes as long as two minutes... You will love this head unit.
Thanks Pioneer for wasting my time and money. I had to pay some one to install this radio and then pay them to put my old one back in. I love blowing money. I will never buy a pioneer product again.

AVIC F900BT
TO PUT IT PLAINLY YOU CANT BEAT IT FOR THE PRICE
START UP TIME IS NOT AS BAD AS OTHER REVIEWS CLAIM IT IS,IT REALLY DEPENDS ON HOW MANY THINGS YOU HAVE HOOKED UP TO IT (USB,SD CARD, IPOD,BLUETOOTH-ETC)AND HOW MUCH INFORMATION IS ON EACH.
IT BOOTS LIKE A COMPUTER.
VIDEO PLAYBACK FROM USB AND SD CARD IS CHOPPY LIKE WATCHING A STREAMING VIDEO ON THE INTERNET.I DINT FIND A WAY TO GET AROUND THAT
NAVIGATION DOES NOT SAY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS NAMES. BIG BUMMER WHEN IN THE CITY AND THERES ALOT OF DRIVEWAYS,ALLEYS,PARKING LOT ENTRANCES AND TRAFFIC IS HEAVY AND MOVING AND THE UNIT TELLS YOU TO "TAKE SECOND LEFT"
AUDIO CONTROLS ARE KINDA HARD TO DEAL WITH NO BASS AND TREBLE FUNCTION. SO IT MAKKES YOU JUST FIND A SETTING THAT SOUNDS GOOD FOR ALL SONG AND LEAVE IT THERE

Great system
I installed it myself and found it went in easily. There's a great online community for modifying this system as well. All the features advertised work great. I bought the separate ipod cable and the AVICs ipod interface is intuitive and simple.
Sweet Unit. Couple of drawbacks...
Was super psyched to pick up this Pioneer Navi/Radio/Mp3/DVD player since I had a hodge podge of several components to do all this and this unit clears out all of the clutter immediately. Some observations below for me:
Pros:
- Very nice, all in one unit. Does everything you need!
- Very intuitive interface. Much simpler than older AVIC's
- SD card, Sirius interface, AM/FM, Navi, all worked fine when it came out of the install shop (Some bugs below)
- DVD performance is great (although I have not bypassed yet for use when driving!)
- Sound quality is great.
Cons:
- No Tilt for cars that have a lower double din install
- Seen better DVD vid quality on other units (e.g.--Panasonic)
- SD card folders make 'random' play difficult as there is a delay when switching folder to find tracks. Best to keep things at root or just one subfolder down max
- Interface Boot up time with radio only is at least 60 seconds. With SD card or IPOD as default, you wont even hear radio for that time. With FM/AM/Sirius as default/last on. Radio comes on in 10 seconds while boot continues
- Sometimes feels like a computer (built on windows)
- Blackberry's are in fact NOT compatible fully with this. I read Pioneers' website which said AVIC's typically dont do well with Blackberry because of a security protocol on the devices. I guess I just didnt do the research. Hoping for a firmware update which fixes this cause that kinda sucks...
Net, net. Pioneer please issue a firmware update to fix some of the above. Nice all in one unit, but it does have some gaps that need to be cleaned up.
