FIOS subscribers beware
Apparently this Onkyo receiver and perhaps others in the Onkyo line have problems with Verizon's FIOS service when using HDMI cables. I suspect that the problem lies with the Verizon set top box/DVR not the receiver but buyers should be aware of the issue. I am told by Onkyo and Verizon that other cable connections will work but if you want an HDMI set up, you will have to go elsewhere. Trying to resolve the issue with Verizon and Onkyo is just not worth the frustration and I have no confidence that there is a resolution. Because of the problems I have experienced I think it would be unfair to review this product.

it's ok
it's ok... sounds good, but not as nice as the upper-end receivers at the high-end stereo shops. Should have bought a unit there for just a little more money. zone2 is analog only, so if you want to run your system through HDMI cables, zone2 is useless. that was a big disappointment. If you're running this with any decent TV, you're better off having the TV do the upscaling; which means onkyo's fancy video processing is also not used. another fair warning: a/v sync has been a big PITA. maybe I just haven't figured it out. there is a somewhat-convenient way to adjust this, but you end up fiddling with it all the time, because the a/v sync seems to be always changing. 130ms one day, something else the next. bottom line: skip the fancy features and buy something with the best possible sound.
