onkyo

(4 out of 5) by Jarrod on Mar 1, 2009
I am not a super audio star so I give it 4stars. It has so many audio settings that I just click through them without knowing what they all mean. I just click till I find one that sounds good for what I am doing. Be it with a PS3 or an audio connection or watching normal TV. I bought it with the future in mind. Sounds great in 7.1 surround sound. So far, So good

Great product, good service from the vendor. Relatively easy to set-up. Great sound and plenty of power.

A very good Audio Receiver

(3 out of 5) by Md Kamrul Hasan on Feb 11, 2009
ONKYO TX SR706 is a very Audio Receiver. It does awesome job when it comes to Audio processing. But a little fuzzy about the VDO output. It is supposed to deliver 1080P to a FUll HD TV. When the VDO is direct to TV it is very clear but when it pass through ONKYO receiver it becomes very dark, low contrast and hazzy as well. I have tried all the different settings on OUTPUT source configuration on the receiver but it din't not improve.
The THX Select2 plus is fanatastic and also the THX Loudness Plus which will give you low volume THX affect, great feature!!
The shippment was a little delayed but reached on time.
I would recommend if you don't care about the VDO output.

This receiver does everything!

Still working my way through all the MANY configuration options, but I can't imagine there is anything else I'd want in a receiver.

Should've heeded the warnings...

(1 out of 5) by V. Vasiliadis on Jan 13, 2009
After weeks of online research and narrowing my choice down to two -- this receiver and the Pioneer VSX-1018-AH -- I decided on the Onkyo. I read many reports (mostly on AVSforum) about overheating issues and general unreliability but went ahead and ordered it anyway because I liked the feature set and really wanted four HDMI inputs. I should've taken notice of the complaints about Onkyo's quality. The receiver was dead on arrival and would not power up no matter what. I didn't bother with calling customer support -- for this much money you expect the thing to at least turn on! Returned to Amazon and will likely not consider another Onkyo product again. BTW, the Pioneer VSX-1018AHK that took its place is running flawlessly.
