Not a good value

(1 out of 5) by J. Moore on Apr 4, 2009 (Indiana)
At this price I bought two. One worked for a few days, the second the green dot was so small it was useless. The price is tempting, but I'd recommend trying a different model even if it means spending a little more.

Awesome!

(5 out of 5) by Kyle Wheatley on Feb 1, 2008
Best laser pointer I have ever used. I used it on an overcast day and the quality of the laser was great. It is awesome indoors, very bright, and you can see the actual laser in the air while you are using it, the only thing is that it is a little heavy for a laser pointer and also make sure that you have spare AAA batteries because this laser pointer goes through them very quickly. If you get this laser pointer you should defiantly buy it from hottestdealsever because it is so much cheaper than buying it from anywhere else!

Fairly good pointer

(3 out of 5) by D. Halverson on Dec 17, 2007 (Houston TX USA)
This is a good pointer and a fair value. The quality of light (brightness and sharpness) is OK and the physical quality of the pointer is OK. The light quality is brighter than those of my red pointers it is not as good as indicated in the product description. The pointer is heavy and larger than I expected (the person holding the pointer has larger than average hands). I don't have a good feeling for the quality of the pointer since the on/off switch does not feel sturdy. Generally the product is not as good as indicated by the product description.

Worked for less than a day

(2 out of 5) by L. Karafa on May 2, 2009 (Muskegon, MI)
Opened it up and used it for 5 minutes or so worked great but it was during the day so i waited till night to use it again. Went outside and used it for about 10 minutes it showed no signs of dimming it just stopped working tried new batteries and everything. Currently waiting on a return.

But it did only take 4 days ship here and the short time it worked it was great and pointed out stars quite nicely so i give 2 stars for that.

Nice bright pointer

(4 out of 5) by J. Bobay on Nov 17, 2009 (Indiana)
I've recently read about green laser pointers because of the 'warm up' time mine seems to need. I've read that this is fairly common. It often starts up a little brighter than a red <5mw typical pointer, but, depending on the ambient temperature, it grows in intensity in about 5-30 seconds to full brightness, and when it gets there, you can actually navigate dark rooms by shining it on the celing. At full power, beam is clearly visible in a medium-dark sky (I live in a mid-sized city). Can be seen outside on a cloudy day, especially on a white surface. My dog was happy to chase it in the daytime (just don't let it get in his or her eyes)! Just be very careful, as the reflected beam can be very very bright, even on a non-reflective surface like a white wall.

Mine is actually able to raise a thermometer 12 degrees by shining it into the red bulb of the thermometer. Also, try carefully shining it into a lava lamp (watch out for reflections) and watch the beam color change inside! Shining it in a lake is also interesting, as you see the beam refract as it enters the water, and the beam is brighter in the water than in the air, so it looks odd.

Also, this unit chews through batteries. I have used 700mAh NiMH batteries, and it drained them in an hour or two.

Overall, it is a fairly well-built pointer, it came with all accessories, including the little mini LED flashlight, cloth, good AAA alkaline batteries, and a case. The only downside is that depending on its startup temperature, it may not achieve full brightness for 30 seconds or so. And from what I've read, yours may not be the same, it's just up to luck. But for the price, you can't go wrong with this one.
