When I upgraded to a flat panel TV, I went all out: a 58" Plasma from Samsung. I'd never owned a Center Channel before, but I figured now is the time.
But unfortunately, the only logical place to put the center was going to be in front of the TV: the Sony I'd purchased was just exactly half an inch too high, blocking the screen! What to do?
Imagine my surprise to discover this lean & mean Definitive: with any other brand, I'd be afraid of tinny, washed-out sound, but I'd had Definitive BP-2000s as my Two Towers for years and simply loved them.
The ProCenter 1000 has made an excellent match. Not only does it have the warm quality I've come to love in Definitive speakers, it fits neatly under my screen. Even better, the clean piano-black finish is elegant, the construction feels solid...and most importantly, this center channel is not at all hampered by its size. Whether it's lossless HD audio, Dolby ProLogic II, or DTS, voices come through clearly, and speech is far easier to hear. It also does just fine with videogames, carrying dialogue without having spatial sound effects bleed over into it.
Highly recommended...and motivating me now to consider Definitive for the rear channels (some day!)

Good Value
Gets five stars for good sound at this price. This speaker delivers good sound at a great price. I employ it as the center speaker in a surround sound system in a 17 ft deep by 15 feet wide room with 9 ft ceilings. My opinion is that it would also work in rooms larger than this. Does a great job of anchoring the center sound. Sound quality is good, not great. But for the money it delivers. Tone is biased to mid-range and bass. Construction is excellent. Has a center screw foot in the bottom back allowing the speaker to be tilted forward if the speaker is on a high shelf. This is how I have it installed. Also has two threaded mounting inserts for wall mounting. I got the white model.
Very Impressed
I got the ProCenter 1000 b/c of its small size and b/c the bottom of my TV to the top of the bottom bezel is about 5.5". I wanted a speaker that fits on the TV stand and to my surprise, I could've gone bigger due to the fact that I see the speaker and TV from a MUCH higher angle than the horizontal. So, I was initially concerned with whether or not I made a good choice with this center speaker. Before I go further, let me say that I have this speaker paired up with 4 ProMonitor 800s for "perfect tonal balance." It works great! I am so impressed with this small speaker. The voices come in clear and loud. Music sounds great as well. Every once in a while, I still stare at the speaker in disbelief when the sound comes through. The ProMonitor 800s are great, too, but that's a different review.

Highly Recommended
A very well made and good looking product. Exceptional sound for the price. These work perfectly in smaller rooms with a ProSub 800 and a ProCenter 1000.

Best Center near the money
I purchased this center channel after weeks of looking for the best sound at an affordable cost. After hearing many items from Klipsch, Polk, Infinity, Mirage, Bose (boo)....the clear choice was this ProCenter 1000. Nothing within $200 dollars of this speaker (besides the 2000)sounded within the same star system to me. I didn't stop at it the first time around though, I checked different setups at different Bestbuy locations because the rooms sizes differ. This speaker always impressed me. Don't waste your time on the center channels between $100-350 ($350 or so for the ProCenter 2000). If you don't want to fork out $350 or give up the extra space, get the 1000.
